Leeds Bradford: £100m Regeneration Programme REGEN

Use this prefix for new threads for Leeds Bradford Airport
On a positive note when i was away in spain last week i got chatting to my ex pat neighbours over there who just happened to use LBA 4 weeks back, the last time they used the airport was well before the extension was open. They were saying to me how much the airports changed and how impressed they were with the new departure lounge and that they prefer to use LBA now over MAN (their family they were visiting live in clitheroe area)
Naturally i filled them in on what other construction is ongoing to improve the airport.
Just out of interest do we have a time scale for when the rest of the construction works will be finished?
Full completion isnt until September 2027 when the final stages of baggage reclaim take place. Until then, changes occur in stages, with things moving around and walls up and down. Nothing is as it seems until its finished.

This retail outlet was not on the designs that were shared publically. It takes literally 2 minutes to walk back to the larger WH Smiths and the other loations where planned retail space is. So there really was no need for it, it is just unnecessary clutter.
Yes but you need to take into account that the average PAX doesn’t know the layout of the airport, lots of people head straight down to the new area after security following the signs so wouldn’t even know that there was a WHSmiths in the old bit, it does make sense if you think of it from the view of a PAX.

The existing W H Smith in the old part is being replaced by another, which may be in a different location completely, replacing the old Boots. So it could end up much further between the two.

Jason Manford outburst on his socials really annoyed me, to the point where I had to write a comment and say the refurb is not finished and by the sound of what he said, he had not been in the new extension. I also don't understand the PR team at LBA, as someone who works in marketing/PR, I would have jumped on his comments and very politely said...." Jason, we would be delighted for you to have a tour around LBA when the terminal is complete and the full £100m has been spent rather than pulling it to pieces when it is in the middle of re development which you will have clearly seen"

They could certainly have said more, although they have invited him back when its finished. LBA do seem to take the view that getting into on line debates is pointless, irrespective of the profile of the person or organisation. Crikey, they dont even hit back at G***A when they spout utter garbage. It's just the policy, and has been for quite some time. I would be hopeless working LBA PR with that policy.

Like you, I commented in Manfords video along similar lines to you.

Agree with Aviador, this and the Duty Free feel like a step backwards. It’s not like the terminal is the size of Heathrow so need these extra shops.

I get they want to maximise revenue but blocking the view and removing seating isn’t going to help customer experience which is just as important. An unhappy passenger is less likely to return and spend money in the future.
The airport made a big thing of the view when the extension first opened. Later as complaints of a lack of a view from the lounges surfaced they reiterated this.

The WHSmith’s pop up store in the Gate 10 area is only temporary. Every time I’ve walked past it over the last few days it is always very busy as people seem to be grabbing a last minute item before boarding their flight.

Well I hope they don't get any ideas with a view to keeping it there. I get it if it's only temporary but otherwise the short two minutes walk won't kill anyone.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
LBA: Albastar B737-800 EC-MUB positioning in tommorow afternoon from Gatwick 15:45 to operate a charter to Lourdes/Tarbes on Friday afternoon 14:00 AP7721 STC
I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
