Blue Air today is a 737-400, YR-BAK, on its first visit but delayed until 1820.

Also we had a visit from TCX A330, G-CHTZ which arrived from MAN this morning before positioning out to BFS.

A visitor for today is S5-AAG CRJ200 of Adria Airways.
G-LSAN B757 Jet2 is currently circuit training as I write this post.
Interesting as the Thomas Cook A330 was also training yesterday and the reason for it's visit.
Circuit training seems to be on the way up again at BHX,particularly with airliner traffic.

I've been watching G-LSAN, it's just made a sharp left turn flying over my back garden.

Looks as if it's heading back up to Leeds now.

I noticed a couple of approaches from a C17 earlier, must have been some time between 11:00 and 12:00.

There are some very interesting posts, on another forum regarding this.
I believed, that a ban had been placed on large aircraft undertaking training flights at BHX, and this was also quoted at the other forum.

A reply stated that 'the ban could possibly be lifted if the airline was planning to operate or base aircraft at BHX'.

With regard to this, was 'Jet2 training now!, enough said!'

I'm aware that the quotes are from a member that posts here, and as a scientist it would be usual for me to quote references. However, I can see that the info could be sensitive and so have chosen to keep the identity of the poster confidential.

I would hope that the person I have quoted would confirm the above. I sincerely hope that I've caused no offence and if I've overstepped the line, please delete this post.

What I find interesting about this potential base is that Jet2 are using 757's for the circuit training. You'd expect them to do training with the same type of aircraft they intended to use for a future base?

It would be very nice to see more 757's at BHX :)

Unfortunately I know nothing of Jet2's ambitions,I just reported what I saw.
Regarding training flights,I to was under the impression that they were banned at BHX,unless for specific purposes.
However as there was also a TCX training sortie the previous day as well as a few earlier in the year, then maybe this policy has changed.I also would like this to be confirmed.
Changing tack, does anyone know the identity of the A320 that suddenly appeared yesterday in an all over white scheme, with a sunny heart on the tail and Thomas Cook titles.Obviously we know who it will be working for,but it was parked too far away to get it's reg so I don't know who it belongs to.I assume it is going to be BHX based for the summer.

Jet2 have been rumoured for a while, the advert for an unnamed airline advertising for a new Birmingham base seemed to fit the bill.

It's not the first time that they've been rumoured though and I believe that talks with BHX have been held in the past and led to nothing. We shall see.

I believe that the A320 is YL-LCL of Smart Lynx, which will be based for the summer.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
