The French Air Force put an A310 into BHX yesterday prior to flying out to Montreal.

Does anyone know why the flight came into BHX instead of going straight from France to Montreal?

I cannot imagine there was any issue over range for the flight which would need a fuel stop so it must have been sent here for a purpose.

Any information would be gratfully received.

Re: French Air Force A310

I wouldn't have thought that they would need to do a tech-stop to refuel or anything. The A310 aircraft should be capable of transatlantic crossing. Maybe they were dropping a dignitary off there?

Avro the flight only specialist is apparently increasing flight to Turkey for the summer from BHX.

Air Finland flew two 757's into BHX over the Bank Holiday (OH-AFJ and AFI) one of which is still here at BHX.

Does anyone know what they are doing? I have heard a rumour that they are looking to base an aircraft here for possible charter work. I know that in the past Air Finland have done some MOD charters but I am unaware of any that are scheduled for the near future.

Any information would be greatfully received.

I have just spotted that Desmond Tutu and Ban Ki Moon are scheduled to address the Rotary Conference being held at the NEC between the 21st and 24th June.

Does anyone know how they will be getting here and what other traffic we can expect for Rotary in general?

I know several Airlines are looking to upgrade their services to larger aircraft but I was hoping that we might see some tasty GA coming in.

I have had s snoop around to look for further information but I haven't come across anything in particular. I guess its a 'wait and see' case. Fingers crossed that we'll see some unusual visitors. Keeps us informed!

CL44,

What aircraft did turn up?

I have to be honest when the show was on I had my head down getting on with a mountain of shipments ready to move out. I did not have any chance to see what (if anything) actually came in.

Good news about the amount of work I had on at the time but bad news for spotting. Grrr.

Sorry about that.

C'est la vie.

As you say, a good reason not to be able to have checked - especially in the current economic climate.

Has a list of expected charters due into BHX been published as yet??

I know the Turkish flights are coming on strong but I was wondering if there were any other destinations that were expecting an increase in services.

You've probably looked already but the only way on the BHX website that I can find is the link below.

Trouble is you have to feed in the destinations in the drop-down box one at a time.

That's really annoying. I was trying to compare various airports parking charges the other day and found that a lot of airports only allow you to use a drop-down box. It's so frustrating but they probably do it to prevent people from making easy comparisons.

Has the timetable for the Papal visit been released as yet. I am just wondering when we can expect the AZ A320(1) to arrive here at BHX for the flight back to Rome.

I am also wondering if AZ will ferry the Aircraft from EDI down to BHX to overnight or will they send her back to Rome to continue revenue service.

Does the Papal flight have a special fit for these flights or do they just use their general product?

I haven't come across any details but I guess flight times for flights like this are often a strictly guarded secret.

Re: Expected Movements

On a quick visit to Birmingham to pick up a few people, i noted 3 Ryanair aircraft & 2 Flybe Dash 8's at around 05.45 at the terminal. I managed to read off EI-DYX & G-JEDI. Can anybody tie up the remaining aircraft?

Cheers
James

The Chinese are coming to BHX.

No, not a new service but a visit by a trade delegation to see local industry in the Midlands which has Chinese investment.

I believe the flight is due in on Saturday but do not have any details for who is coming or what Aircraft they will be using.

Any information would be appreciated from others who may be in the know.

You think the Chinese Premier will be on a KLM Flight via Amsterdam or Lufthans via Frankfurt????? Lol

I dont think so m8, ive heard it will be a Chinese 747, Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
