I certainly remember Bob Woolley too...He was my dad! He would take me and my little brother into Forward House on Saturday mornings. I remember the Mercury office was at the end of a corridor on the right. I think the guy at Air India was Ben Panesar.I remember Brian, and Anne - who went to work for Alan Parsons at Ware Transport. I remember Darren Williams - going to watch him play at the indoor cricket place. I remember Gordon - who used to bring sausage sandwiches in. My dad had a little corner of the Mercury office as his own office space. The walls and ceiling were nicotine yellow! Little round sponges on each desk for wetting stamps! Lunchtime visits to Excelsior club (I think that was what it was called). A hilarious Irish guy - Pat - who worked in the warehouse below the office. The telex machine and its tiny dots of paper that all fell out! My dad was the best. I would love to hear from anyone who remembers him. He died from a brain tumour in 2007...I certainly remember Bob Woolley, I used to work for Chris Bedford and remember Dateline (but didnt have many dealings with them). As for RH, I remember Judith but not the others. I do remember very well the UKACC functions (especially the quizzes and Ladies Night). Being honest this was the main way I socialised with the other Agents as I had a fair amount going on outside work.
Ware Transport were bought out by Trilogy (after Alan Parsons passed away).
I didn't know Alan had passed away. I last saw him at my dad's funeral in 2007. I remember as a family we were all invited round to his farm at bonfire night for fireworks. John Powell (JP) did the BBQ. During the summer holidays I used to work for Alan at WPS (World Parcel Services) as a credit controller. I remember his wife, June.Ware Transport were bought out by Trilogy (after Alan Parsons passed away).
A few more memories coming back...I remember there was a Colin and a Chris...who my dad called 'Little Chris'...I think he also was on the Mercury indoor cricket team. I remember the Ladies Nights at the St John's Swallow hotel in Solihull. Me and my brother were dumped in someones room whilst my mum (Ro) and dad went to the do. I remember a Gordon Clarke - I think he was with BA. There was a rep called Barry Isherwood. Mercury folded in the summer of 1988. My dad was devastated. He ended up working for Rockwell - which I think also folded a couple of years later. Then he went to work for Greenway on the Freeport ( a weird no mans land within barbed wire fences). Pat the warehouseman had the surname Docherty I think... Vaguely remember I guy - possibly 'Mal' who was one of the drivers - he ended up at Ware Transport too.I certainly remember Bob Woolley too...He was my dad!
