Jenny – there are plenty of new T-tail aircraft around. The Q400 and ATR-42/72 are turboprop examples (do turboprops not count though?) while the most popular jet example is the Bombardier CRJ700/900.

The best place to go to see T-tail aircraft is without doubt the USA. American, Delta and United have huge fleets of regional jets.

Portland airport (PDX) is very busy with Alaska Horizon Q400s. Next time i'm there i'm going to try and get some photos of the liveried ones a lot are College Football teams.

Donkeys years ago there where whispers of a dedicated freight village here at BHX which faded away almost as quickly as the average Summer for the UK.

I had a chat with a gentleman yesterday and the subject of cargo came up. He said that back in the 80's Fed Ex had been interested in developing the Elmdon site into a hub, apparently the bosses at the time turned them down believing that it was too ambitious for what they believed to be nothing more than a small regional airport.

I don't know if there is any substance to that but if there is any truth then it shows how we suffered a serious lack of ambition for so long.

I struggle to tell the difference between an Airbus or Boeing most of the time unless its A340 747 757 or A380! But i do instantly recognise a Fokker 70!

It took me a while to tell the difference until a friend told me to look at the windows at the front of the cockpit, there is a difference in the shapes and layout of the windows on an Boeing or Airbus. Its weird but true.

Sorry got carried away and thought I was in random stuff!

Whilst not directly airport related the Midlands Engine: Market Visit to Chicago and Toronto takes place next month. Greater trade links between our region and North America can only benefit BHX in the future.

This is a unique opportunity to take part in the inaugural Midlands Engine trade and investment mission, led by a UK Government Minister. For the first time, companies from across both East and West Midlands will be involved in a mission that will raise the profile of the region overseas and its strong manufacturing industry.

You are invited to join the visit to Chicago and Toronto, which will focus primarily on Advanced Manufacturing and Aerospace, and will offer great opportunities for companies to gain insights into two of our most important trading partners. The high-profile programme will include events and receptions arranged by the British Consulates-General in Chicago and Toronto for participants and guests, and we aim to generate significant media coverage both in market and in the UK.

Very much airport related, any dialogue that enhances the prospect of growth specifically to West Midlands can only benefit transport links necessary for those individuals on sizeable salaries to begin producing results.

Those delegates attending assemblies to shape future pathways are likely to be blind to those local necessities they have been tasked to create. Or not create dependent upon your interpretation.

To my mind, the Law being set aside for this conversation only, Evenbrite are facilitators, just following direction and I know not the true objective not least that referring to BHX!!.

Just been invited to an airline event at BHX, and will have many Airlimes represented that currently serve BHX.

One of them is called 'flycar'. Never heard of them before, but according to their (basic) website, apparently offer a Lapland route via Hahn airport?

Anyone heard who these guys are?

I think they're an IT company that gets third party airlines to operate their flights. Last winter we had a weekly Germania flight to Arvidsjaur via Hahn, so that must have been on their behalf.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
