Flight from Liverpool to Bergen with Wideroe

I decided to try a weekend in Bergen soon after this new route was announced so thought a pre Christmas visit would be ideal. Left on 7 Dec the flight is due to depart at 08.05 at present but in the new year it will be around 10.00. Checked in bag and made way through security. There was quite a number of people going for a Wizz flight at same time but was still screen fast. The flight was parked remotely so we were bussed. I would say the flight was over a quarter full. Smooth flight and plane is still very smart inside being very new. Flying time 1.30h. Free hot drink on board...

The walk-through scanner, which uses space technology to image human body heat, is the result of a collaboration between Sequestim Ltd. and Cardiff University scientists. Computer learning allows the scanner to distinguish between threats and non-threats but without the need for passengers to keep still or remove outer clothing. Globally, around 12 million passengers travel by plane...

Australia-bound Since 2010 my wife and I have been flying to Australia to visit family. We’ve always used Emirates and last month was our seventh trip in the past eight years. Previously we have used Gatwick Airport, and Birmingham Airport on one occasion. This year our departure point was Heathrow. I’ve submitted trip reports regarding our journeys to Oz in the past and as the flights have been with Emirates a further detailed trip report might be repetitious so I’ve submitted a slightly reduced summary of the trip this time. All times shown are local to the airport in question. We...

"The success of our holiday offer is supported by a well-managed airline which leverages its relationship with our holiday business while actively developing its own distribution channels to compete wing-to-wing with other European leisure carriers". 2018 was a strong year of growth for our airline against a backdrop of widespread disruption following the collapse of Monarch and Air Berlin in 2017 and strike action across European air traffic control. We took advantage of the upheaval in the market to expand...

I recently booked a package holiday to USA. There was one long haul flight (UK to USA) then one connecting internal flight in USA - this was bought as one journey rather than 2 separate ones. Both flights were with the same airline (US based). On the way home the first (internal US) flight was cancelled (bad weather elsewhere in US meant the plane never made it on time to the airport). We were booked on the next available flight - the same one 24 hours later - free of charge. As a result we incurred various extra costs such as accommodation and food etc. Normally I believe if the...

The future of Domestic UK air travel

What is the future for UK domestic air travel ? We are not a big country and yet getting around by any form of transportation can prove taxing to say the least ! Our roads are clogged ( don't even mention pot-holes ! ) . Train travel , in my opinion its worse since BR days , more expensive , more packed with shorter trains. It's ok to and from the capital in general for most big towns and cities, but cross country, that's very different, with still scant investment, outside London and SE for getting around. And what of domestic air routes, over the years these seemed to have diminished...
