Leeds’ Transport Infrastructure: A Roadblock to Prosperity and the Path Forward

The one thing that really grinds my gears in this city. The lack of synchronised traffic lights. Kirkstall hill is a prime example of where there are too many traffic lights, all independent of each other and not synced and working independently creating unnecessary grid lock even at 11am on a...

    Road, Rail & Access Issues

It's sadly not just local government and this part of the world. It is the UK full stop. We like spending a hell of a lot of money and time on talking to each other, may I add usually about bull sh*t but we as the British use formal language and pretend we are all barristers so it makes us all...

    Summer times: Saturdays LS4515 = LBA 13:55 - SSH 21:30 / LS4516 = SSH 22:30 - LBA 02:25 Sundays LS4509 = LBA 12:45 - HRG 20:25 / LS4510 = HRG 21:20 - LBA 01:20 I wonder what the aircraft is doing on a Sunday pre Hurghada. If it is a frequent flight I wonder why they cannot have Sharm depart...

No member can moan. Both Egyptian destinations served from the offset. Nice to see Egypt back on the LBA departure boards.

Leeds Bradford Airport Parkway [ Proposed ]

I think a 3 car 195 would be just as good as 170. Based on doors (making it easier for disembarking / boarding). That makes sense. Thank you for that info.

Leeds Bradford Airport Parkway [ Proposed ]

That’s my worry. The 170’s absorb the demand and then some on this line. Also where will they go? Replacing them with some clapped out shite from back of the depot simply will not do. Replacing them with 3 carriage 195’s will do. If the plan is 2 carriage that’s a step backward. And given how...

Leeds Bradford Airport Parkway [ Proposed ]

It's behind a pay wall. But my two cents are - the whole line or at least up to Harrogate for now needs electrifying. They need desperately to get on with this LBA train station as it would act as a relief for Horsforth as many Cookridge residents would be able to walk to the new parkway...

    Jet2.com

I don't think they will. It would appear LTN/LGW will get the destinations Jet2 are established in, have hotel contracts in, decent infrastructure (reps etc) in. LTN hasn't really grown that much. LGW - missing 3 turkey destinations (Izmir, Bodrum and Dalaman) plus frequency to Canaries etc...

TUI never served with a max. It was an NG. It was full every flight with 75. It would appear it’s 321NEO fleet stretching its legs. In time I expect all 14 bases will serve Egypt - be it with NG or NEO.

Before any Leeds forum member kicks off about Egypt not out of Leeds. A bit of common sense tells you it’s from bases with A321 only. Do I expect Egypt to rapidly expand into every other base? YES.

Airport seeks legal clarification on night flying

Isn't it just. And as usual the BBC fake news media are all over it. About time this group was put to bed. Go live in the ascension islands bunch of freaks.

I really don’t get how easy cannot make BFS work at minimum of 2 daily. It really confuses me.

    Aer Lingus

Empty threat surely. BA / IAG need to make it profitable and currently they are not doing. Which is a shame.

    easyJet

DSA won't open though. And if it will it will be shut down within 5 years as once again be economically unviable. I do believe TUI/easyJet and TUI/Ryanair will form a relationship that is beneficial for all parties. Until of course easyJet release that they can make more money directly from an...

Route News Jet2.com to open base at Gatwick

Yes there is that. easyJet also have 165 on order.

    Jet2.com

Judging by what they’ve said. No. It looks like the ACMI’s will come back, to allow for the A321 to head south into LGW (STN may have titan back for example) but I would say no hampering to the B737-300. They’ll be out before we know it.

    Jet2.com

Jet2 biggest base is Manchester. With a variation of flying between dense leisure routes and good frequency to most city breaks. Around 24 aircraft. LGW has stiff competition on city routes (3 daily) so I imagine it would be like STN. It will be big but only as big as STN. Jet2 are hardly...

    easyJet

I wouldn’t be surprised. Ultimately the plans can change and what they have planned may move the plan forward some years.
