I've been reading another forum where somebody who claims to have worked at Airport West says businesses wont touch it with a barge poll because of the poor access to the site.

I will of course back the plan in principle but the new "airport village" or whatever it's called must have decent road connections first before it should be allowed to happen in the same way SARRS is being built at Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

I would also say the airport or developer of the new "airport village" should have to work to strict guidelines given this will be a greenbelt infringement. I am all for development but it must be carried out in a sustainable way.

There was a video clip on Look North last night with Harry Gration giving the councils decision. Lets be positive and get behind any investment, especially terminal expansion

With passenger numbers now passing 3.4m how long is it likely to take to reach 3.7m? I seem to recall we're looking for 3.7m to trigger the so-called terminal building expansion.

I'm unable to find the post containing the details of this specific work but it looks like the work to enhance the look of hall B has commenced.

Looking back at the planning consents it looks as though the planning consent for Hall B runs out Dec 2016.It was extended for three up to that date The only figures I can find at the moment is relating passenger numbers and that states that there should be support for bus services when the number reaches 3.8m.

Perhaps the reason for the late submisson of the next phase of the Masterplan and negative stories on route development and taxiways/Cat 3/Parking might simply be down to Bridgepoint wishing to get out of LBIA?? No point investing when potentially you don't gain anything from the money spent!!

The radar room in the control tower beneath the VCR is currently being refitted with new furniture. By which I mean consoles, panels, desks and so on, not a new sofa and armchairs.

When the tower had a complete technical refit in 1995, the VCR was refurnished but the new technical equipment was installed in the existing furniture in the radar room. Don't know why but I suspect cost implications at the time. It's now being brought up to date.

Can't be an easy job. Those of us who have visited LBA ATC will know there is no lift in the tower so all the posh new gear had to be carted upstairs ( I think there was some sort of winch at one time). Plus the radar room itself is on the small side so not much room for manoeuvre for the installation team. Nevertheless I'm sure it will look the part when finished.

Not the best first impression for passengers coming through domestic arrivals this evening... I noticed two buckets positioned under exposed ceiling panels collecting a water leak.

Domestic arrivals is the oldest part of the terminal so it comes as no surprise you say you came across some buckets. I can recall a raging torrent of water running down the staff corridor during a thunderstorm back in the noughties.

As someone who works on Estates, water leaks, especially from flat roofs, but also from pipework are incredibly common - even in relatively new buildings. The problem with them also is that if it is a roof leak it's a devil of a job finding where the leak is coming from. It could be some distance from where the water makes its appearance on the inside. The main thing is that LBA do something about it. Whether they put buckets down to catch the water or not, there is an inevitable H&S risk.

Could anyone please let me know who is in charge of facilities maintenance at LBA? Situation with litter and cigarette ends at WFS Cargo is getting absolutely ridiculous. Thanks.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
