The Mayor is well and truly on the fence, wanting to be all things to everyone, but actually by her lack of commitment fails to deliver to anyone.

She is new in role and to a point may be finding her feet, but based on her previous time as an MP, she was all over populist items that attempted to appeal to the masses. In that regard she was successful in getting coverage on local and national tv; so the fact that this has been absent for LBA shows that she doesn’t want to rock the boat and upset anyone.

Unfortunately, this can only be a short term policy, before it catches up and people see that silence in a political role, means inaction and ultimately this will hit her in the ballot box. In my opinion, local businesses and economic forums will give her a bedding in period and perhaps Mr Murison’s praise is to encourage a formal stance from the Mayoral office, but if she doesn’t start actively shouting up for the region on more than green issues; their patience and her time in role will be limited.

I get that she’s into a new role now but she’s been in that Job for just over 3 months and not once has she mentioned anything about the terminal plans. In fact I don’t think I’ve even heard her say the word “airport”. She seem to be focusing on getting better transport such as improving bus services which is all fair and well but what about other transport methods such as aviation? She’s in office for only 4 years (unless she’s re elected) so you only have limited time to sort all these things out before times up and you have to move on.

She needs to get her act together the whole world doesn’t evolve around buses, and I don’t know about others but I’m losing my patience with this Woman. She was my second vote after Matt Robinson and I voted her on grounds that she supported the airport which she says she does and I feel betrayed.

She also needs to stop listening to all the nonsense from those against the plans as they don’t rule or dictate this City and it’s not all about them.

He’s a useless waste of space. Roll on the next election with hopefully reformed boundaries - it’ll go blue.
I doubt it as my part if his area is being
lumped in with studentland/ Headingley, and Hyde Park, and Kirkstall and Armley. 200 yards up the road, it's a different area and that may well go blue - or yellow.

Great thread on Horsforth Facebook site. Someone has asked if noise is a problem around Scotland Way (sounds like they're thinking of moving there)
Lots and lots of responses ALL of which say they have no issues whatsoever.
Only a matter of time before some GALBA geek jumps in and claims different - probably suggesting they will suffer from CO2 poisoning before going deaf.
Nice to see some positivity though. I had a long chat last year with someone living in Scotland Way and she loved being there, stating it just wasn't the same without the planes. (It was during the first lockdown).

GALBA protest at the airport Saturday 4th September.

This looks like fun. Wonder if LBA are aware?

Thanks for the info @LBAYORKIE. I haven’t a clue what it’s going to achieve for them. Just a bunch of crooks. Also how are they getting there? By car I’m guessing…..

It will attract media attention probably.
I saw your post to them on FB and you’re correct with everything on there. I’ve had a read of their post and it says they shouldn’t bring negative messages to the holiday makers. Most of the passengers are holiday makers… I really don’t understand this “environmentalist group”

I think any argument we make should be reasoned. As far as going up there on the 4th of September its up to individuals to decide. We are not an organisation as such, just free thinking individuals with something in common.

Personally I think it's better we leave ER-GALBA to get on with whatever they want to do. They only make themselves look stupid as the majority of people in our democracy want to see a balanced approach to environmental concerns. If people wanted to live in caves again they would vote accordingly at the ballot box but in this democracy we choose not to vote the way they want us to.

The airport plans are balanced and they take into consideration the environmental concerns presented to them. There's nothing more to discuss.

ER-GALBA will have a small turn out. If we were to make a scene at the airport it would only serve to add to media coverage which is precisely what ER-GALBA want.

It's worth remembering that these forums are public and should be treated that way. This isn't a private group and anything we discuss here and on other platforms can be easily seen by GALBA and their parent organisation Extinction Rebellion. They will only use any information we provide here, on Twitter or Facebook against the airport. The proverb least said sooner forgot springs to mind.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
