Jet2 have loaded some Manchester to Vienna flights for November/December 2022. Though looks like there won’t be any for the remainder of this winter.

Very good for Air Tanker. I just hope the pilots know which airline they are working for on that day - be quite awkward introducing TUI customers to Dalaman on a Jet2 service to Tenerife ha.

Smart Lynx also have a busy summer cut out of them. 4 Aircraft for jet2 at BHX, but also plenty with TUI at BHX/LGW, easyJet at LGW and believe the new BA LGW ops will also be using them.

Jet2 moving all flights to Bulgaria, France, Greece, Italy, Jersey & Madeira back into T1 from the 28th April.

G-VYGL noted going in the Jet2 hangar, can't say I've seen this happen often if ever. Not sure if it's planned maintenance or tech.

There’s mention out there that the Manchester-Jersey route is to finish for the season at the end of this month and having a look at their website it appears this is true. Route will be back next summer.

Freeing up capacity at Manchester? Giving more operational flexibility to the operation to play around when the "plan on paper" doesn't quite go as planned? Still makes me chuckle the airline has two HQ split between the airport and the city centre of Leeds.

Personally, when you see it on flight radar the amount of flights, I have admiration for what Jet2 operations staff manage to do. It's an incredible feat. I think it also extends to the likes of other airline operations.

I’m not sure what their reason is for it @Sherburnflyer92 it could be as you say to free up capacity or simply using the plane on another route which maybe more demanding e.g Palma, Ibiza or one of the Greek/Turkish routes.

But to make it clear Manchester isn’t the only base where Jersey has had some cuts made. Birmingham has also seen flights reduced from 2x weekly to just 1 weekly to JER.

BTW to confirm in one of your earlier posts it is indeed a Wamos Air A330-200 that is working for Jet2 at MAN EC-MAJ

The plan for the aircraft was clearly 3 flights from MAN a day. Early morning somewhere short (Reus, Barcelona, Girona) , JER for the early afternoon , then Balearics/Alicante late aft and into the evening. Jersey would not free up an aircraft for Greece/Turkey nor a Balearics to be back in time for another Balerics or Faro run.

I would likely think it's more to do with operational reasons - not that they'll admit that.

It’s something that is an unknown at present.

Well a lot of the Jersey flights I’ve seen rarely get out on time. Sometimes hours late. I doubt we will know their reasoning for ending the route till next summer as they don’t usually explain why they cut routes. You can only make assumptions.

If you look at when the Jersey flight was planned it was the middle of the day flight - roughly. With such short flight time/turn around it was back in time to head back off somewhere else in the very late afternoon/evening. Believe it was Reus in the Morning, Jersey, then onto Palma. Removing the Jersey allows for a larger turn around between Reus and Palma. Therefore able to absorb any of the delays that happen my moving around flights and therefore keeping some on time that would otherwise been delayed. Operational flexibility.

Changing flight times for flights at this late stage before peak summer requires a change of runway slots that airlines hold and are given. I very much doubt that they'll be able to change some of the flight times on some of the flights this late stage. I could, and willing to be, proved wrong.

I would also hazard a guess that Jersey from Manchester isn't as profitable as once thought. Jersey expansion, if I remember correctly, was brought about due to the ongoing Green/Amber/Red and make it up on the spot travel list and restrictions. It was an easy way to make some easy money and offering it from most bases, when the airline was, in a lull due to the restrictions etc. I wonder if that has something to do with it.

This is what I'm getting at. Are they reducing some flights or canning the Jersey programme at MAN to allow for operational flexibility. Reduced demand coupled with the an operationally demanding schedule I wonder if they have done this to create some breathing space. Also at MAN I believe they are certain stands/gates etc that are domestic capable. Unlike in for example Leeds or Birmingham or Stansted.

It'll be interesting to see what will happen with Jersey in Summer 2023. I can foresee them doing 'W' patterns with the Jerseys from a couple of bases. It would not shock nor surprise me if we see a 737-300 doing Leeds - Jersey - Manchester - Jersey - Leeds.

Well there’s mention it’s down to lack of demand so they can use the plane on a more popular route if they choose to. But its lucky MAN has EasyJet to do JER as at LBA we only have Jet2

I found the reason is lower demand but as mentioned by @Bobby2000 it gives them chance to use the plane on a more demanding route.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
