Jet2's latest toy B737-800 G-JZHM has left BFI on its way to MAN.

As seen as Manchester is going to be Jet2's main engineering base, and this is the second one to be delivered one would assume the rest will be delivered through MAN too.

The next Jet2 delivery into MAN is G-JZHN at 0230 on 17th November.

Amongst all the excitement of long haul rumours etc, let's just pay homage to Jet2 and their incredible achievement at Manchester.

Some is existing obviously, but, in 2017 they will have at Manchester:

-Their own dedicated check in area with seperate security channel.

-17 based aircraft including the Airbus A330, their first long term widebody aquisition.

-All of the ground handling will be in house, including ramp, baggage, passenger services etc.

-new hangar to bring all maintence needs in house.

That's quite impressive really, and shows why Jet2 have grown so much at MAN, there must be a great working relationship.

Jet2's next B737-800 is G-JZHO and due to be delivered into MAN on 1st December at 0205.

Went past the airport today, and noticed the Jet2 signage is on the hangar now, replacing the 'diamond M'.

The next B737-800 to be delivers, G-JZHP, is down to be delivered to MAN at 0245 on 17th December.

It could change as JZHO was also down for MAN initially but changed late on.

After G-JZHP on 17th, the next Jet2 G-JZHR is down to arrive at Manchester on 23rd at 0245.

Can't see why MCO wouldn't work for them, they have great product awareness in the North of the UK, and it's one of the biggest destinations from MAN. I personally know loads of people who travel there regularly, and privately rent accommodation using TCX or VS for their flights.

Jet2 summer 2018:

Palma: 4 daily Sat/Sun. 21 weekly overall.
Almeria: 2>3 weekly
Fuerteventura: 3>4 weekly
Alicante: 1 extra weekly flight
Reus: 4>5 weekly
Malaga: 1 less weekly flight
Ibiza: 1 less weekly flight

There are also lots of changes in the days of operation on some routes. There may be more, but this was just a very quick glance, don't have the time to go through all routes. No new destinations (yet).

A plus is a plus, but, I would imagine this is just he first draft, and that there will be further increases over the next 6-10 months.

There have been no 'new' destinations announced at any bases yet (I know there have been new routes announced, but no new actual destinations), and given some get announced year after year, I have no reason to think S18 will be any different.

Given the rise of Morroco at MAN with 2 new carriers, I would put a good bet on either Agadir or Marrakesh being announced by Jet2 eventually. I would also be unsurprised to see Cape Verde make an appearance as new hotels continue to be built.

Agree with you User001. If you go on recent growth and how they do it; bases first and then new destinations. New destinations base specific have been this year the week after the initial release.

In my opinion at the moment Jet2 is not the sort of carrier to go off the 'beaten' track so to speak. TUI have made massive investments into Egypt, Tunisia, Turkey and Morocco compared to Jet2 who have made more substantial investment in the Canaries, Mainland Spain (Benidorm especially), Palma. Morocco will not join the destination list in the foreseeable future and i can not see it on the route map certainly not before Egypt.

Cape Verde on the other hand is one i can see Jet2 serving in the next few years, put those 757 to the test. However just like above TUI/Thomas Cook are the ones making substantial investment into the area with hotel so i wonder how Jet2holidays can wangle there way in. I can see it working but it totally depends on the hotels down in Cape Verde.

Cape Verde from a Scottish airport , Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham and Stansted would work in some years to come.

I think Morocco could actually make an appearance before Egypt.

Reason being, Egypt is still on dodgy ground. The travel ban is still in place, confidence in the resort is down, and people are settling in to their alternatives.

Morroco on the other hand, has always been the relatively safe corner, good standard of hotels, great beach scene and as said, it see,s to be really on the up at the moment. It's also easily reachable on the B737 so can be served from multiple bases, whereas Cabo Verde is the reserve of the B757, and that is only based at LBA/MAN so would need positioners or W patterns with new crew on each return sector too.

I would rule it out, that's all I'm saying.

The 737-800's could probably make it; the TUI 737-800's from Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and even Scandivanian operation make it very interesting to watch in winter. And the A321's make it for Thomas cook. The only airports that would struggle are NCL and GLA even with a 757.

Jet2 would probably do what they do with EWR flights and position the aircraft/crew night before to operate. That would then be factored into the cost of operating the flight. Fantastic for the winter operation however would probably not be good in Summer so would be reduced to MAN and maybe even STN on the 737.

Interesting re Morocco and Egypt. Having been to Egypt but not Morocco i would say Egypt is safe having been there it's only the Security at the airports thats of concern. I also believe that is, in Sharm particularly, substantially improved.
