Alas Stobart are not planning on basing a/c in snn again. what they are doing is a dub/bhx/snn/bhx/dub rotation initially then may start doing the same to other UK airports. But at the moment no plans to base again!

Two EIR arrivals shown today on Mayfly and on the BRS arrivals board: the usual one at 1215 and a second at 2005, both ATR 72.

summer 16 will see an increase in rotations. the route will be dublin up from 17 to 20 per week.

Announced today that Aer Lingus Regional will operate a fourth rotation on BRS-DUB on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays giving a total of 25 weekly flights. With Ryanair's mainly 3 x daily (20 per week) there are plenty of options to/from the Irish capital.

No starting date shown in the press release for the fourth rotation.

with the possible 4th rotation on certain days,is this in responce in stobart stopping cwl rotations till at least march next year. posters on another forum not happy, with some saying back to brs.

It might be part of EIR's thinking but I honestly couldn't really hazard a guess.

BRS-DUB

It doesn't look as though the fourth daily service on selected days of the week will commence until the 31 October this year and currently the booking engine is only showing the fourth rotation on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, but nothing on Sundays as originally stated in the press release.

Flight times are shown (DUB-BRS: BRS-DUB)

0650-0800: 0825-0940
1005-1115: 1140-1250
1400-1515: 1540-1655
1730-1840: 1905-2020

31st October start for the fourth daily here and a 1st November end for the CWL service, the two seem quite linked here, it's very curious, perhaps the only thing that springs to mind is more people from BRS are using the pre clearance and one stop flights perhaps ?

well I have always been intrigued by the timings of the Cardiff flights, especially the EI3291 as the timings do not really allow for many transatlantic connections, where as the EI3281 from BRS do as it is early enough that, provided there are no delays, to catch some morning transatlantic traffic. Take CWL-DUB-JFK for arguments sake.

The timings for tomorrow are the 0915 flight from CWL, arrive in DUB at 1025, layover for 5 hours 25 minutes then catch the 1610 to JFK.

The BRS-DUB-JFK offer much better options for connections. Again I am going to use the JFK as an example.

The timings for tomorrow's are the 0810 flight from BRS, arrive in DUB at 0925, layover for only 1hr 25 mins (enough time to grab a coffee and pre-clear customs) and catch the 1050 flight to JFK, giving you an extra 5.5 hours time to explore New York. So If I was a Welshman living over the bridge I would chose BRS because of the timings.

Looking at the Aer Lingus booking engine there are transatlantic connections from CWL via Dublin to Boston, Chicago O'Hare, New York JFK, Orlando, San Francisco, Toronto and Washington Dulles.

BRS has all these plus Hartford, Los Angeles and Newark.

I did a list of the total annual CWL passengers on their DUB route for each year since 2005 in the relevant CWL thread recently. I reproduce the figures below in the left hand column and I have added the BRS figures for their Dublin route in the right hand column.

2005 119,000 289,000
2006 92,000 363,000
2007 68,000 351,000
2008 73,000 315,000
2009 65,000 288,000
2010 70,000 268,000
2011 67,000 323,000
2012 63,000 303,000
2013 64,000 290,000
2014 71,000 332,000
2015 120,000 378,000

There is a relatively small number of charter passengers in these figures, mainly rugby-related and mainly but not exclusively at CWL, but they are a small percentage of the whole and their presence does not distort the overall totals.

Until 2006 CWL had Ryanair (2 x daily some days) and Air Wales on their route. Both ceased in the first third of 2006; Ryanair pulled out of CWL (DUB was its only route), reportedly because of a disagreement over charges, and Air Wales ceased to trade. Ryanair transferred its CWL flight to BRS for a while hence the leap in BRS passenger number in 2006.

Apart from that BRS mainly relied on Ryanair although Aer Lingus did operate a B 735 then an A 320 (both single daily) for a few years ending in 2005. After that Ryanair continued on its own, some seasons up to 4 x daily, until Aer Lingus Regional came on the BRS-DUB route alongside them in 2011.

When Ryanair left CWL in 2006 Aer Arann replaced them and morphed into Aer Lingus Regional to be joined by Flybe last year.

It will be seen that during the last decade the number of passengers between BRS and DUB has consistently outscored CWL-DUB to a significant degree.

Airlines will obviously have a clear idea of markets and it may be that this has played a part in the Aer Lingus Regional decision.

Aer Lingus Regional adds extra flights from Bristol to Dublin for Wales v Ireland World Cup qualifier clash
Created: 10th Jan 2017

Aer Lingus Regional, operated by Stobart Air, will operate up to seven flights a day on its Bristol - Dublin route for 24-26 March 2017, the weekend of Wales’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier clash against Ireland.

To meet the demand, an additional 850 seats will be available on the route, a 75 percent increase on usual capacity.

Wales and Ireland will meet at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on 24 March in a Group D qualifying match ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Aer Lingus Regional currently flies up to 640 flights per week across its 26 routes throughout Ireland, the UK and France.

Commenting, Martin Saxton, Chief Commercial Officer at Stobart Air, said:

“Aer Lingus Regional is committed to offering its customers best-in-class choice and convenience. In response to additional demand for the World Cup qualifier clash, we’ve added more seats for customers. The additional capacity on our Bristol - Dublin route in March means Welsh football fans will be able to enjoy the game and explore the sights and sounds of the vibrant Irish capital at their own pace.”

Aer Lingus Regional recorded a 19% increase in overall passenger numbers in December 2016 versus the same period the previous year, making it the airline’s busiest ever Christmas period.

Don't understand that, they do rugby flights from Cardiff so why not football flights?
I don't know. Are Ryanair doing any flights for this match? I would have thought they would.

Not from Cardiff. From BRS there look like 3 rotations during the week days and and 2 on the weekends. Not sure if that's normal?

Yes, that's the normal Ryanair BRS-DUB frequency this winter.

Summer 2017

I've just noticed that Aer Lingus Regional (Stobart) continues with its enhanced frequency this summer: 4 x daily on Mon, Thur and Fri; 3 x daily on Tue, Wed and Sun; 2 x daily on Sat.

Coupled with Ryanair's mainly 3 x daily on weekdays (although as in recent years Ryanair drops to 2 x daily in June and July) and at least 2 x daily on Sat and Sun, for much of the summer there will be seven Dublin departures on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays:

EI 0810 hours
FR 0820
EI 1215
EI 1545
FR 1625
EI 1910
FR 2110

I was looking at the arrival screens at BRS today and noticed that an Aer Lingus Regional (Stobart) from Dublin was also carrying a BA flight code. The airport's website arrivals and departures pages only seem to show the flight code/flight number of the operating airline but not partners, whereas many airport websites show several flight codes/flight numbers for the same flight.

I hadn't realised that the Aer Lingus Regional flights to BRS are also BA partner flights.

Last time I flew from BRS the flight info screens in the terminal showed codeshares.

I believe the current codeshares are as follows:

KLM codeshare with the following: AF, AZ, DL, G3, KQ, MK, SU, 9W

BMI codeshare with LH, LOG, SN

EI codeshare with BA, EY

The arrival and departure screens in the terminal do show the codes shares. That's how I 'discovered' the BA code share with EI and the LM codeshare with BM today. It's the airport website arrival/departures pages that don't, but many other airport website arrivals/departures pages do show them. Probably another of the inadequacies of the BRS website arrivals/departures pages.

Yes, having just looked at various other airports both domestic and international, all that I looked up show codeshares on their website arrival/departures.

Maybe it deserves a question to Bristol Airport to ask why there is this discrepancy between FIS in the terminal and the website FI......

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
