Now that IS interesting, because at the last Consultative Meeting I asked the airport director why Thomas Cook had withdrawn from LBA and whether it was due to a lack of seat availability on Jet2 and Monarch flights. I was rather suprised to find that he was totally unaware that Thomas Cook were not taking bookings and he promised to look into it. So is it a co-incidence that a week later, they suddenly make flights available again?

That's some blunder wiping off the entire business from an airport. At least it's back on the system now.

Good news I suppose! I would seem that somebody Thomas Cook Holidays Group has seen sense at long last as they are once again selling holidays available from Leeds/Bradford Airport for summer 2015 season. To state the obvious its not the own charter flights, it looks like they must have struck some seat deals on Jet2 and Monarch Airlines flights.

Routes currently on offer
Palma = Monarch
Tenerife = Monarch & Jet2
Fuerteventura = Jet2
Las Palmas = Jet2
Lanzarote = Jet2
Bodrum = Jet2
Antalya = Jet2
ALSO
costa brava monarch
costa-del-sol jet2
costa dorada jet2

Walked past the Thomas Cook Travel Shop in Leeds city centre yesterday and noticed that there was not a single mention of flights ex LBA what's so ever.

Are they still utillising Monarch and Jet2 etc or have they completely pulled out of Leeds?

I've just checked the Thomas Cook website and good news it confirms they are still selling package holidays from Leeds/Bradford using both Jet2.com and Monarch Airlines flights. I suppose and it's a shame in a way, it may be due to Thomas Cook Holidays wanting to fill there own airline flights from Manchester instead advertising flights/holidays (which are more expensive) from LBA and using third party airlines seen as they only have token presence at LBA now-a-day's!

I would love to see Thomas Cook airlines back at LBA with their new yellow and grey livery, which I think is superb. Hopefully one day.

Now that would be a great turn-up for the books!

I think I'm right in saying it's been a fair few years since both Thomson and Thomas Cook were both based here at LBA simultaneously?!

It brings up the old age question as to whether or not the A321 is any good at LBA! It seems to always be mentioned that this a/c has performance issues sometimes (am I right in saying with braking?) at LBA?

I'm aware TCX have more or less withdrawn all their 75's now (My favourite a/c :unsure:).

I suppose they won't have a choice now seeing as though they've withdrawn all their A320s!! :banghead: o_O

Further to my post above; they have leased 6 A320s this summer so I suppose they could do the same next year?
I remember them leasing that BMI A320 on their first Summer at LBA!

Also does anyone know whether their 753's can operate regularly into LBA? Very unrealistic yes but just wondered what operational difficulties might occur? I'm assuming it can't park on Stands 9-18(?) I lose track of the numbers now they change that much!

I very much doubt we will see TCX back at LBA for a very long time. The airport seems to have a track record of one stepping into to operate flights as the other withdraws. It's had a very rocky relationship with these two carriers and I would say it's more the carriers then the airport it's self.

Monarch are more likely to operate a 3rd A320 out of the base before we see both TCX and TOM at the airport. What Thomas Cook will do however is take allocation of seats from all based carriers at the airport to destinations it feels it can make a profit from at Leeds.

Off topic; 2017 is very much doing to be a telling year for LBA and it's based carriers. It needs to entice increases and big ones at that, Ryanair 4, Monarch 3, Thomson and Thomas Cook, Jet2 14/15 (new aircraft), KLM upgrading flights, BA upgrading to A320 and eastern etc. If it can't pull of a good series of expansion for Summer 2017 I will loose all faith in the airport.

Leeds Bradford Airport Twitter also mentioned that Thomas Cook Airlines flights are now on sale and it had a link so I could believe this rumour.

I looked at the Thomas Cook on line brochure for Summer 2017 and every flight I looked at was on Jet2, and none on Monarch. I am not saying there aren't some Monarch, but I didn't find any.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
