At the recent Consultative Meeting, Chris Sanders did say LBA needed to be ready for any eventuality with regard to Monarch and it is heartening to see that he and David Laws have pulled a rabbit out of the hat by getting a based Thomas Cook aircraft for Summer 18 (whether one of their own or an alternative airline), and additional capacity from TUi (we all know how hard that must have been), and more capacity from Jet2/Ryanair too. Well done the pair of them. I never imagined they would be able to make such a statement within 2 days of the sad demise of Monarch.

It's a good start to their Leeds Bradford careers. We need plenty more though !
We do and they know it. The term used was that LBA is punching below it's weight. Their focus is now turning however to more business orientated routes to European cities. They expressed the view that LBA's offering was too leisure orientated. I think we probably all agree with them on that one!

Thomas Cook new routes for summer 2018 from Leeds/Bradford

I’ve just been checking the GDS and it looks like the newly announced based aircraft for next summer will operate up to 12x weekly flights to 7x destinations as folllows

Turkey - Dalaman = 3x weekly - Monday, Wednesdays & Saturdays
Turkey - Antalya = 2x weekly - Thursdays & Sundays
Cyprus Larnaca = 1x weekly - Wednesdays
Tunisia Enfidha = 2x weekly - Tuesdays & Fridays

Here’s the full scheduled for the proposed LBA based aircraft.

Mondays

TCX1188 = LBA 14:25 – TFS 19:15 / TCX1189 = TFS 20:15 – LBA 00:35*
Wednesdays

Thursdays
TCX1116 = LBA: 06:10 – PMI 09:55 / TCX1117 = PMI 10:55 – LBA 12:35
TCX162 = LBA 13:50 – AYT 20:05 / TCX163 = AYT 21:20 – LBA 23:55
Fridays
TCX1096 = LBA 04:45 – MAH 08:25 / TCX1097 = MAH 09:25 – LBA 11:05
TCX196 = LBA 13:00 – NBE 16:30 / TCX197 = NBE 17:45 – LBA 21:15
Saturdays
TCX164 = LBA 07:00 – DLM 13:15 / TCX165 = DLM 01:10 – LBA 03:40* (W-legs)
Sundays
TCX168 = LBA 06:00 – AYT 12:15 / TCX169 = AYT 00:50 – LBA 03:30* (W-legs)

The maybe more non based flights to add or changes to be made yet as I've not trawled the whole system. Especially seen as the based aircraft will be away all day on Saturday and Sundays doing w-legs elsewhere.

I don't mind what we get. My money would be on an Avion A320. They were using them an Manny this Summer.

Balpa announced at Noon that all Thomas Cook pilot strikes have been cancelled, especially tomorrows, good news for passengers after two weeks of bad news.
Talks to start with management to hopefully agree a deal.

I presume therefore that the previously announced A321 flight to Antalya, operating on a TCX aircraft on a W Leg, will now be scrapped and operated instead by the based aircraft.

Currently on Thomas Cook's website, Thursday is showing the W patterned AYT as well, so currently looks to be 2 flights on a Thursday.. our based one at 13:50 and the W pattern at 17:20. lets hope it stays that way

They'll probably keep it on the A321 as they would have to change Newcastle's flight as well, i believe that's where the aircraft is from, and find it work for the hours it was supposed to LBA's AYT flight.

I hope so. It would be nice if we got a based A321 too but I am sure that is asking too much. With the based TCX aircraft and the extra Jet2 aircraft already confirmed for Summer 2018, we will be maintaining the status quo for next Summer in terms of based aircraft, but the increases in passenger capacity offered by Jet2, TUi and Ryanair should ensure that overall the steady growth at LBA continues into next year.

I think that depends if TCX intend to have a year round base at LBA. CWL is their only seasonal base in the UK I believe. I think they are sending the 757s back to Condor for summer 18 and receiving their A321s apart from 1 so they will have an extra A321 but with Monarch gone i'd imagine any spare A321's would go to BHX or MAN.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
