On another note there is a video on You Tube called Fly Cardiff to Berlin and the amount of passengers on it wasn't good! It was posted on the 10th October so hopefully the loads have picked up since then!

There is a rumor going about that CityJet will be flying the first 2 weeks of CWL-LCY. I've looked at the website and for the first 2 weeks there is no seating plan but from the third week there is one for a Q400. Rumoured CityJet aircraft is a RJ85.

This is apparently to give Flybe time to organise aircraft and crew for the route.

There was a suggestion on another forum that the Q400 will go CWL from the summer and that GLA will be fitted into that. Wondering if they could fit another route in if it gets based? Daily AMS?

Is this based on the assumption that the LCY route, assuming it continues next summer, will be operated by a CWL-based Q400 and crew (who will have to be qualified for the LCY approach)? Is it also based on the assumption that it will operate BHD as well as GLA?

It was a reply to a question about GLA. And the poster said that it was his understanding that their would be a based Q400.
Flybe could continue the current process of over nighting from BHD and could operate GLA from GLA and include a ORK rotation once a week in that flight. Also if DUS comes back then they can operate it like last year with a BHX based Q400 flying via DUS. Nothing is certain but they are cutting LPL down by quite a lot from 4 daily to 5 weekly which could release an aircraft for CWL possibly. And the crews themselves could be continued to be rotated from BHD.

The fact that they are willing to continue the LCY flight and go through a lot of hassle in scheduling aircraft and crews from BHD to continue the route and wet lease a CityJet aircraft for the first 2 weeks of november to cover the LCY flight (which can't come cheap) suggests they see a future in the route and potentially Q400 ops out of CWL. But i'll guess we'll find out hopefully soon when they release the summer 17 for GLA and BHD.
And the CityJet wet lease made me wonder in the future when the E195's went back if the FAO, FCO, VRN and MXP flights could be operated on a Cityjet Sukhoi on Flybe's behalf?
Assuming CWL gets a Q400 base or a Flybe base at all!

Interesting thoughts. Thanks for that.

There are a lot of assumptions here however would it be cheaper in the longer term for Summer 2017 to base the aircraft at Cardiff and having Q400 pilots (LCY approved) at Cardiff. The cost of overnighting 8 crew in the hotel and associated transportation costs for this would no doubt impact the yield on the route.

It appears that the 08:00 is the quote departure time and therefore it makes it difficult for the aircraft to operate the 8 sector average that the E195 aircraft seems to do per day.

There would need to be CWL based crew for that i would've thought probably to operate a 19.30 departure to wherever. I'm guessing that the aircrew needs 11 hours off daily judging by the gap?

Cityjet Avro RJ85 EI-RJO will be operating the LCY flight next week.

And the BHD? If not will the aircraft and crew sit on the ground at CWL for several hours?

According to Post 377 the daily diagram for the Flybe Q400 is CWL-LCY-CWL-BHD(change crews?)-CWL-LCY-CWL. Will the ARJ work this or will the BHD sectors be covered by a BHD-based Q400?

No BHD will still be covered by a BHD aircraft until Monday the 14th when the times change and it's operated from CWL. So it looks like the Cityjet aircraft will just do the 2 LCY rotations a day.

Thank you, Jerry.

Flybe CAA Stats for August 2016

Edinburgh 9647 average of 89 pax per flight LF 75%
Glasgow 4328 average of 80 pax per flight LF 68%
Jersey 2259 average of 86 pax per flight LF 86%
Paris CDG 4677 average of 75 pax per flight LF 64%
Dusseldorf 398 average of 50 pax per flight LF 64%

Looks like a good month for Flybe with even DUS having decent average load. Milan is doing well and Verona has been a real success. Wonder if with MXP there are some coming from over the bridge? Also maybe next year could BHD or GLA go twice daily?
Hopefully Septembers numbers will come out soon.

So this weeks RJ85 for the LCY route is provided by Jota Aviation and the aircraft is G-JOTR.

London City and Cork figures seem a little disappointing but on the whole I don't think they look too bad.

Cork has always been generally low i think people are surprised Flybe still fly it. They must see promise in the yields for LCY for them to trial it through the winter.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
