There has been a post on dried fruit suggesting that Flybe might turn to Eastern Airways and lease some of their Saab 2000s for leaner routes. Considering LCY hasn't been filling up the aircraft, the most pax i've heard the flight gets is about 40, it might be possible that Eastern takes over LCY on behalf of Flybe releasing the Dash to do other routes.

I'd have thought as extra to the fleet. There could be routes they want to do in Scotland in which the Dash is too big but the Saab isn't. ABZ-LCY may be more suited to a Saab same with CWL-LCY. Also there could be some routes out of CWL they want to try but they need to free up time on the Dash first.

Interesting article in the Irish Independent about Flybe and their future fleet composition. According to the new CEO the decision will be made by the end of the year. Will be interesting to see the way they go and what effect that would have on their operations at CWL. If they go all Q400 and not replace the E jets then that could mean they will drop sun/jet routes and just concentrate on UK and Northern France and Holland and Ireland. If they decide to replace the E jets with other bigger jets then could they seek to expand their sun operations from regional airport's and move into charters?

Flybe cashing in on the Champions League final. According to the article they have added extra flights to MXP from BHX but not CWL. It looks like their MXP flights to CWL are already sold out.

Looks like G-FBEM the E195 with the Kids and Teens livery that was based at CWL has been sent to DSA and been replaced G-FBJG a 175 but as i write this it's now been replaced by G-FBEI in bound from EDI.

According to a poster on another site Flybe are advertising for Cabin crew at Cardiff, so that sounds positive.

On another forum their was a post saying that Flybe are training pilots to lease Eastern Airways Saab 2000s for the thinner routes. If that is true then we could see one operating LCY hopefully though if that happens I do hope the Q400 stays at CWL.

It's more than a codeshare. The flights will be sold through Flybe.com. It's a franchise agreement.

There is so many dos and donts on pso routes that im sure flybe cant put a flight code share on it.Im certain if they did then the pso bit would disappear,as its for routes with low pax numbers and no other form of viable service any other way.VLY is in a position that its doable from road or rail with a long travel time with both.there has to be a rule book some where reguarding pso routes Be good if that did happen with a code share.But most pso routes there is no other way apart from a air service with low pax numbers and no chance of a profit.

I think some of the Scottish Island routes, which are PSO's, have codeshare flight numbers. There may be contractual restrictions by route, but the whole point of a PSO is to make a place with restricted access more "connectable". VLY is being connected to the Welsh Capital which is the whole point of this PSO route, but VLY is connected to the BE network via MAN. Some will argue it's by road, but it's no different to West Wales to CWL. It would be great to see VLY connected to the BE CWL network, but i'm not convinced it will be allowed.

Another question will be Avios points. Whether they can be earned on or used on the VLY flights? As it's an Eastern scheduled flight then it should be sold through Flybe.com so have a BE flight number.

Reading Flybe's stock exchange statement and the new Eastern franchisshas made me wonder if CWL could lose it's Q400 but actually have it replaced by an Eastern E170. They are LCY capable so that route could be continued and would be a better size for TXL and MUC which would then release the bigger E195s for more profitable leisure routes.

Quick look at the CAA figures and Rome apperars to have got off to a good start average pax 91 and Ryanair going onto the FAO route has doubled the ammount of pax on it so it appears not to have effected BE's loads on it.

I tweeted Flybe earlier to ask about the LCY flight and they said the schedule for winter has been finalised. I had a quick look and nothing has changed. So it looks like the Dash will be doing this schedule in the week CWL-GLA-CWL-BHD BHD-CWL CWL-ORK/JER-CWL.

Got a message from Flybe and the gist of it was that they are committed to the Cardiff base and are working with Cardiff airport to finalise the winter programme for 2017/18. So LCY might return and hopefully there will be a new routes as well! They said they hope to have an announcement soon.
