Flybe could do well with a tie-up with Qatar airways and act as a feeder service for the flights. Alternatively, a tie-up with the star alliance would be beneficial, it will boost the german routes and give CWL passengers more choice and competition which will bring down fares.

If they tied up with Qatar then I could see them losing the Etihad codeshare they have.
Codesharing with Lufthansa could be a good way to boost their Germany flights from CWL. For MAN and LHR United Airline's would be a good tie up.

Seen a post on another forum and from what the poster said the winter schedule should finalised at the end of the month. So we should know by then if there will be charters or extra flights to fill in the gaps for the e-jets and whether LCY will return or we get a new route or not.

I cant see charters as it was said on another forum that flybe pulling away from charters and sticking to schedule routes.I would like to think not as a lot of aircrafts parked up,but then again they have to be maintained sometime.

Christine Ourmieres has said publicly that BE are looking into charters to fill the aircraft's flying time, which i'm assuming would come at the expense of scheduled services on the E195's (Perhaps 1 or 2 per week etc.)

We'll have to wait until the end of the month as Jerry says, which has been purported elsewhere on the Interweb.

BE have started flying for TOM from BHX once per week, so it's not outwith the realms of possibility.

You read my last post and its not negative just realistic. On the whole its not being negative,the charter thing came from another poster I think bhx if my mind is thinking correct. I can only post what is said wherever as we all try and get as much of the information correct

I do agree with being realistic, i don't at all think we will get a new BE route in any shape or form, unless a current route is cut.

For Flybe charter's or a wet lease contract would be better as they would be working for another company so they would be guarenteed a pay day. I think there problem as a company is that lately they've done a lot of silly routes like 14 weekly MAN-LUX i believe. I believe the new CEO said that they need to concentrate on routes that are profitable.

Looks like Leger Holidays are doing packages from Cardiff Airport to Italy between now and October 2018. It looks like they are using the Milan flights.

That's the sort of thing Flybe needs to boost some of the routes.

Yes it is. Would also be great if they could get a company to offer the something similar for Germany or a German firm to offer tour packages for Wales to boost those flights. I think they have a firm that backs the DUS flights but i'm not sure about the TXL and MUC.

With tour companies doing deals with airlines using the services they offer makes the routes safer to keep operating. We don't know what the yield airlines are getting.But still nice to see and as they say every little helps.

Been having a browse this morning and i must say FCO seems to be one hell of a great route for BE. Wouldn't be surprised to see this at even 4x weekly next Summer. The current 2x weekly is no where near enough, sold out for tomorrow and very, very heavily booked for Saturday too. Great to see it doing well.

VRN is doing well too, so there is definitely scope for some expansion from BE. Personally, i'd like to see EDI upto 3x daily as well just for the connectivity factor, most business people do not want to be returning so late in the evenings so end up using EZY. If BE go 3x daily on EDI this will lure more people back from the realms of EZY @ BRS.

Interesting to keep an eye on BE in the coming months at CWL.

I have heard positive reviews about the Rome route! Lots of Italians using it as well and from the people I've spoken to a lot of them are using the route and going down to Naples and that area. With Italy being successful for them so far then hopefully it'll give them confidence to try new routes in that area including Croatia.
For a 3rd EDI rotation if LCY gets dropped then maybe the Dash could be used for a 15.30 departure from CWL. I know in April when i went to Edinburgh i probably would've chosen an afternoon return if it was available.

Routes with good loads on low rotations per week would be a better bet to put on extra rotations as more money made from then than to build new routes. By all means start new routes but get the routes with good loads sorted with extra rotations,and when that sorted then look at other routes.By doing that there is no risk as such of a new route failing. But good on flybe doing what they do now and long may it continue,hopefully the way I said as it would work out good for them and airport.

Rome sounds promising for the next few weeks although you'd expect (at least hope for) strong loads in the peak holiday season on routes that are primarily leisure-orientated. The same applies to Verona.

Whereas we know that load factors aren't the deciding factor on a route's success Flybe will need the shoulder months of summer to be supportive if they are to increase capacity, even though they seem to manage on annual load factors across the airline considerably less than the likes of easyJet and Ryanair. April and May saw lfs of 77% and 68% respectively on Rome and 39% and 53% on Verona.

I would not be surprised to see an increase on CWL-FCO next summer - up to 3 or 4 x weekly to see how that goes at first. easyJet have been operating BRS-Rome daily for many years, initially to Ciampino and then to Fiumicino for the past two or three years or so. They operate daily but reduce to 4/5 weekly for the quiet parts of winter. I've been surprised that they haven't increased frequency in summer given their loads but it's probably a case of maximising yields rather than increasing passenger numbers with additional flights and possibly diluting yields a bit overall. If Flybe does reasonably well on CWL-FCO this winter it will be a huge plus for the route and go a long way to convincing the airline that it can be built up, because a decent winter market should indicate a strong summer one.

If LCY does get dropped there is no guarantee that the Dash will stay but that means BE will have 3 daily rotations to cover. They could put BHD back to a BHD based Dash but they would then need to change the E jets schedules to accommodate GLA ORK and JER unless they used non based aircraft.
With Rome a good progression next summer would be to go 3 weekly and possibly to 4 weekly in July and August and with Verona keep it 2 weekly and maybe look at Milan and go 5 weekly for part of the summer.
I do think Flybe need to keep growing their network at CWL to keep it positive. Another Italian or maybe Croatian destination as something new to advertise even if it's only once a week like VRN started out. It would give CWL something positive to shout about and promote the rest of the network as well.

Good news for Flybe as it's share price is up and hopefully that means the CWL base is doing well as well. Also Flybe are to cut it's intra-European routes in October.
