Maybe this is why BE are avoiding Spain, because there's something in the pipeline from another Operator.

I've just been looking at the route map and noticed these connections via CWL with wait times;
BHD-FCO TUE (1hr10 outbound & 3hr20 return connection in CWL)
BHD-VCE TUE (2hr15 outbound & 2hr25 return connection in CWL)
DUB-VCE TUE (1hr35 outbound & 3hr30 return connection in CWL)
EDI-VCE TUE (1hr10 outbound & 1hr5 return connection in CWL)
EDI-VRN SAT (3hr45 outbound / No return connection via CWL - SOU only)
BHD-MXP WED & MON (1hr10 outbound / No return - BHX/MAN only)
EDI-MXP MON (No outbound / Return 2hr55 return connection in CWL)
JER-MXP FRI (No outbound / Return 2hr35 return connection in CWL)
BHD-FAO WED & THU (1hr10 outbound & 3hr15 return connection in CWL)
DUB-FAO WED (1hr10 outbound & 3hr10 return connection in CWL)
EDI-FAO SUN TUE THU (various different connection times in CWL)
EDI-TXL THU (3hr55 outbound / No return connection to UK)

So not exactly ground-breaking connections that will turn CWL into Schipol, but certainly something that could boost the figures on these routes. No doubt there's competitive direct options from EDI and DUB, with alternatives probably available from BFS. I'm not sure if this is something new given the current timetable/frequencies, but I've said before this could work for CWL if the timings are right. The routes BE operate from CWL aren't all operated frequently from other BE bases, if at all. It does put CWL in a mini league of connections, which could be grown further. It will never be the hub of MAN, BHX and SOU because of the volume of domestic flights they see, but certainly a positive!

Well SOU is a more leisure focused hub with more empahsis on regional France so they could be building something similar at CWL but with more of an emphasis on the Med.

that shows how up to date I am regarding regions rugby then!

Interesting because in that article/interview on the Flybe CEO a while back she did say the charter side of things at Cardiff has potential.
I remember a while back Richard Holland (Cardiff Blues CEO) saying they used Flybe's chartering service so it's quite possible its work they used to subcontract out and may be taking in-house more. I did notice that it wasn't a CWL based aircraft but a BHX based E175.

Flybe have cancelled all their flights from Cardiff Airport today, TUI and Vueling are operating today but KLM aren't. Flybe are also operating from other airports today though they have cancelled a lot of flights. Can they be criticised for cancelling ALL their flights from Cardiff Airport today bearing in mind that the airport is open.

Thought it was a bit strange they cancelled all their flights out of Cardiff today considering the airport is open and the second Vueling departure of the day is nearly away.

Anyway i guess it is what it is, Snow is melting fast in Wales today so tomorrow should be back to normal.

It's sometimes difficult to fathom why airlines do things at times. Flybe seem to have begun operating out of EXT today after early cancellations. easyJet cancelled 17 departures from BRS this morning whilst nearly everyone else seemed to be operating, including on some routes that easyJet had cancelled.

There must be some sort of reason, whether it's due to the aircraft or operational to do with the crew and as TLY says they are operating out of EXT this afternoon. Someone has questioned on Twitter why they aren't operating and one of the reasons he suggests is low pax numbers and that the decision is commercial, but i guess we will never know.

Looking at the loads for the last week he could be right but it is more likely the crews are unable to get the airport for their duty times. Unfortunately they do not live at an airport and snow drifts or sheet ice and cars do not mix well. I saw a few 4x4s struggling in places around the West Country yesterday.

More likely things like roads like 5 mike have 7 foot drifts on them and are closed meaning crews can’t get to the airport. Easy for Vueling to operate as long as the airport is open. Also TUI only need to get one crew to the airport not 3 sets like Flybe.

Nothing to do with loads that is for sure. If anything, all flights were very very busy, think it was just the Chambery which was low coming back for some reason but otherwise was a good day for loads.
We have crew from Swansea - Cardiff all the way up to the top of the Valleys and down into the Vale, some live nearly on top of a mountain, others are deep in the valleys, on farms.
Even the local crew who are down in Barry are struggling but things are improving.
One crew member had a scare this morning on the way to work and had to turn around, was just too risky to carry on, others sliding down the streets.
There are plans in place for tomorrow but we should all be back to near normal.
It is not something that any airline wants to do and we are all thinking about our customers but we have to remain safe ourselves too.
I'm kinda bored sat at home so will be grateful to actually fly tomorrow !!

You make such a good point there. All too often we hear people complaining about runway closures due to snow contamination. Nobody really considers the wider implications of bad weather such as access to the airport.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
