The cancellations are due to Air traffic controllers on strike in Italy.

I am one of those impacted by the industrial action.

How long is the train trip to Verona? Hope you have a good flight from Verona.

The trip was 1.5 hours using the RV service (Regional Express).

If you weren't intending on staying in Verona then you can transfer on to the Express Bus Service that takes you from Verona Train Station to Verona Airport.

Flew on G-FBEI (E195) both directions. I was however looking forward to comparing the E175 V E195 as that was supposed to be the type bringing us back from Venice prior to the cancellation.

The flight outbound to Venice on Saturday must have had 90-100 pax on board which is great considering the Ryanair BRS to Venice departs approximately the same time.

The return flight from Verona had 113 on board but with the disruption from the previous day I did hear many people say they were on the Rome/Venice so I can only guess 70-80 were originally booked on it.

I have flown several times on the E195 and do like the aircraft with it's 2 and 2 seating layout. It's ideal as I love the window and th wife likes the Isle seat.

I find the E jet 2-2 layout great and i like the aircraft itself always enjoyed flying on it. It's great that Venice is so popular considering how well covered it is from Bristol! Fingers crossed in the future they'll go 3 weekly!

Yes the E jet 2:2 is way more appealing and comfortable , incidently mathers im off to verona in a fortnite (wed out & sat in) is either of those legs a 175 as ive never been on one ?

Someone I know got caught up in the strikes when visiting Rome with flybe. He said Flybe paid for them to go 1st class on the train to verona and then he stayed overnight to fly back the next day. He also said flybe all expenenses covered bar the alcohol!

That's pretty good of them to be fair!

Same experience I had to be fair from Venice. They would have been on my flight on the way home.

As for the delays I would assume technical as a E175 positioned in from BHX to operate scheduled services.

I'm assuming that airlines can't insure themselves against things like this and have to take the hit themselves.

I guess so. A cheeky letter s found its way into my previous post directly in front of the word 'hit'. I don't think it was the work of a brazen form of predictive text, more likely my clumsy fingers. The s has now been deposited into cyber space. Flybe Group (UK) to concentrate on the Q400 moving forward, although the carrier will continue to operate a number of E175s for longer or busier routes as four are due in 2019. Fleet will be reduced to 70 aircraft by early 2020, as all E195 are returned. Flybe will concentrate on profitable routes only.

3 years today Flybe opened their Embraer jet base at Cardiff Airport starting with 1 aircraft at the beginning of June and the 2nd aircraft at the beginning of September.

The original 11 routes were Belfast City, Cork, Dublin, Dusseldorf, Edinburgh, Faro, Glasgow, Jersey, Milan, Munich and Paris CDG.

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, has today (1st June 2018) reinforced its commitment to Wales by jointly celebrating with Cardiff Airport three successful years of operating from the aircraft base having recently positioned a third Embraer jet to service a 124 per cent increase in passengers and an almost doubling of routes during this time period.

The milestone was marked with a lively birthday celebration at the airport with Flybe Regional Sales Manager, Paul Willoughby and Cardiff Airport’s Financial Director, Huw Lewis handing out specially branded cupcakes to surprised passengers as they prepared to jet off to Dublin.

Flybe opened its new base at Cardiff Airport with a 10-year agreement in June 2015 and the expansion to date has helped stimulate further growth in the local economy. This has included job creation and a contribution to tourism arrivals with passengers taking advantage of Flybe's wider connecting services from the hub airports it serves.

Roy Kinnear, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer said: “Flybe’s strong performance and increased growth over the past three years demonstrates our commitment to the national airport of Wales. We have continued to fine tune our schedule with added frequency and new routes that is testament to our flexibility and responsiveness in meeting customer needs.

“We look forward to continued growth and to providing customers with access to an even wider choice of routes to and from Wales. Having such choices to travel to and from local regional airports is something we at Flybe consider a necessity, not a luxury.”

Cardiff Airport’s Finance Director and Company Secretary, Huw Lewis, added: “It has been so exciting to see just how much Flybe’s base has gone from strength to strength in three short years. What started as a two aircraft base with a modest selection of destination has flourished into a thriving three aircraft base with more routes being added all the time such as Venice, Rome and Berlin Tegel.

“Our customers were asking for more flights, offered at convenient times and at the right price and Flybe has continued to deliver, whilst also entering into franchise agreements that further expand the choice of available destinations. Today is an opportunity to reflect on how far Flybe’s base has come and we look forward to its continued success at Wales’ national airport.”

Flybe operates from Cardiff to seven countries with a choice of 17 routes that offer up to 78 return flights a week, with the three most popular services being to Edinburgh, Dublin and Paris Charles de Gaulle.

Two of the airline’s franchise partners operating out of Cardiff are Eastern Airways, which operates to Anglesey, Newcastle and Aberdeen; and Blue Islands which operates summer flights to Guernsey in the Channel Islands, all of which are bookable at www.flybe.com

Flybe also has codeshare agreements with many long haul airlines that provide convenient onward connections between Wales and the rest of the world, giving customers a wealth of extra travel options when booked direct with the relevant international carrier or travel agent. Examples are to Dublin and onwards with Aer Lingus; to Paris with Air France and Finnair; to Edinburgh and Munich with Etihad; to Glasgow with Virgin Atlantic, and via Milan with Alitalia.

Last year there was talk of the Welsh Government being keen to attract Flybe's HQ and maintenance/engineering facility from Exeter. Seems to have gone quiet unless there are negotiations going on that would understandably be kept out of the public domain, although being a publicly listed company an announcement would have to be made to the Stock Exchange at some point for something like that.

Yeah i do remember that. If it was to happen then they'd have to build a new hangar on the site and the only place i can see that being built is where the temporary terminal 2 usually gets placed unless they looked at the south side where the general aviation is but i don't know if there would be the room for something like that. The masterplan in this sense will be interesting.
I would be surprised though if they did move their maintenance side out of EXT.
