Any hints on social media that the rumoured fourth based aircraft might still turn up in summer 19?

At the moment . . . no plans for 4th aircraft.
There has been talk of it i believe but nothing further, be nice if it does though

No haven't seen anything.

That's a shame. Will be interesting to see what they do with the extra E175 next year.

I notice that Flybe, are doing quite a bit of training at CWL lately, is this because it is a fairly quiet place for them to train, or is there still the possibility of a 4th aircraft for next year?

Generally because it's a quieter airport than the likes of BHX.

I found an interesting post on LinkedIn by an aviation analytics company showing the top 20 Flybe bases for fare and profitability. *(A link since has appeared on another rumour network).

It includes franchisee operations (at SEN for example).

The post read:
“Following Flybe's recent profit warning we have taken a look at their Top 20 bases (by weekly departures), ranked by average fare for the 12 months to September 2018 and colour-coded by our estimate of profitability. The picture is mixed but overall the airline's losses of c£1 per seat (approx. 1.7% of turnover) are not completely beyond repair and not worthy, in our opinion, of the 66% collapse in share price since their announcement.”

It says on that they are estimating profitability by average fare over 12 months. Do they know Flybe's yield per seat? Or their costs per base? As for any subsidies i'd have thought they would be separate from seat prices. What it might show is that at CWL Flybe have to keep their prices competitive because of Easyjet at Bristol.

I've just had a quick look through Flybe's summer 2019 schedule and there is still gaps on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. So new route maybe from them next week?

I don't see why they wouldn't fill them or even announce a new route to fill them no matter what there troubles are they will i'd have thought be trying to carry on business as usual and it does seem that way as the higher management have said very little about the share price drop as i'm guessing they might have expected it.
The Saturday gap may not get filled as the aircraft is down for Verona in the morning and then Milan so they could leave it at that or Dusseldorf could come back as it's gone onsale late before.
The gaps for Wednesday and Sunday i would be surprised if they left unfilled as it would mean on the Wednesday the second crew of that aircraft would only do the short 19.50 departure to Dublin and on Sunday the first crew of that aircraft would only operate the short 12.40 departure to Cork.
Hopefully they'll fill the gap and make an announcement next week!

The only thing I can think of if gaps not filled is crew rest days.They have to have time off some where.Time will tell

It will be a tough airline to buy.Who ever buys it or merges with another airline you can be sure routes will be cherry picked.The best thing flybe has is the maintainence base in Exeter,it has a good name and does good work.

What ever happens to flybe weather sold or merges hope the work force gets sorted out ok.

Lets hope for Cardiffs sake that whoever buys them is willing to keep regional ops going and keep the Cardiff base as well as it would be a big blow to lose them.
I'm sure the staff if the worse happened would find employment.

Just to give some context to the effect the loss of Flybe from CWL would have. As well as 3 based aircraft and the jobs they create Flybe carried roughly 480,000 passengers in and out of Cardiff in 2017.

The concern for potential passengers now would be is there a guarantee future flights would operate, it’s bound to cause some nervousness which in turn may place all routes, no matter how profitable they are at risk. I certainly hope there is a positive and swift result to Flybe, be it a takeover or a merger as its one hell of a large regional airline to lose, not just for Cardiff but for the UK as a whole.
