There must be a case for slashing APD for flights within the UK, this would help massively and also relieve the congested motorways of a small percentage of traffic.
Unfortunately APD brings in a lot of money for the treasury and makes the government look green so i don't see them cutting it. Also I'd imagine that the government would prefer people to use the trains rather than planes as they are greener.

Playing devils advocate, if Flybe were to go the same way as Monarch , then the government would lose their APD take . I imagine the vast bulk of APD revenue comes from overseas flights and the duty from Uk only traffic would be less than 10 % of the overall revenue collected.

Flybe Six Nations 2019 flights.
Some of these flights are extra and some are the originally scheduled ones but i've done it to show what Flybe will be operating on that particular weekend and i've put an asterik after the extra flights

I see Easyjet and Ryanair have both said they are not interested in Flybe.
Looks like the only hope for Flybe to keep going is to get their self out of trouble.Any more thoughts.

We don't know what's going on behind the scenes. They would never be a good fit for EZY or FR. They would've just stripped it back and shut what they didn't need down. BE are refinancing in different ways so let's just hope they can pull themselves out if it.

There was a post on the other forum that said they'd raised capital. They do have 4 E175s due for delivery so it's possible they've done some sort of deal with them to raise cash.

To summarise Flybe will add for the Six nations
2 extra E175 flights and 1 E195 to CDG for the French game.
1 extra E175 and 1 E195 flights to Rome for the Italy game.
3 extra Q400 and 2 E175 flights to Edinburgh for the Scotland game.
2 extra E175 and 1 E195 flights to Dublin for the Ireland game.
In total they will add an extra 13 flights over the whole Six nations.

With four daily return flights from Newquay to Heathrow starting in March, it seems that Flybe are planning ahead which must be good news for CWL.

I agree but so long as the narrative says air travel is a contributory factor to global warming this is unlikely to change. Unfortunately, aviation is also way down the pecking order with regards to extra funding or tax relief. I imagine there will be a large number of businesses lobbying their MPs for tax reductions for the high street for example.

It'll be interesting to see if they can sell the Gatwick slots and where the e jet goes.

I could be wrong, but looks to me as more a case of selling the 'family silver' to keep going?

I know that they did that and they've remortgaged a Q400 for £5 million as well. They could also do something similar with other aircraft they own as well.

All very well remortgaging the assets, but very much short-term gain for long-term greater expense, which is a gamble if the profit margin does not improve....

Any one know how flybe were doing for aircraft spare across the network last summer.

There are a worrying amount of flights in the Jan-Mar period where BE have made prices unattractive by using the ‘all in’ fare only on flights to FAO, MUC, MXP, GLA, EDI, DUB and BHD

I hope this isn’t a sign they are being pulled due to the restructuring - although the ‘all in’ flights which could be removed make sense and add up to an aircraft being removed from the base. Fingers crossed this isn’t the case

Well hopefully that won't happen as that would be a big blow to CWL.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
LBA: Albastar B737-800 EC-MUB positioning in tommorow afternoon from Gatwick 15:45 to operate a charter to Lourdes/Tarbes on Friday afternoon 14:00 AP7721 STC
I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
