Over 20 destinations from your doorstep
Want a holiday without the hassle? Book your break with TUI, and you can choose from over 20 holiday hotspots direct from Cardiff airport.

Easy-on-the-eye Ibiza’s one of your options. When it comes to getaways, this sand-edged island offers a two-for-one deal. San Antonio and Playa d’en Bossa are nightlife hotspots, but you can slow the pace right down on the classic Balearic beaches which speckle the island.

You’ll find a few Greek Islands on the list, too, including Corfu and Zante. Corfu Town’s got a cabinet’s worth of UNESCO awards, plus some stellar after-dark credentials. Meanwhile, Zante’s fine-sand stretches rank among the best in the beach business.

Portugal’s also on the line-up. Flights to Faro take you to a ribbon of sand-smothered coast to rival the Spanish Costas. You’ll find plenty of culture-crammed towns and fishing villages to explore too.

To discover our latest deals, visit us online or chat to one of our TUI Holiday Advisors in store.

Is this a new initiative by TUI? They seem to have these holidays available from a number of UK airports.

I'm pretty sure it's new from Cardiff, the last time i checked the TUI website, which i do it sporadically to see if they've added or taken away routes, on the drop down United States of America wasn't available to be clicked on so this is something new they've added which is good for the airport and obviously KLM and Delta. I do wonder if the airport is talking to them about direct transatlantic flights to Florida! There plenty of routes that TUI operate at both BRS and CWL and maybe in the future Florida could become one.

flights to Thailand, Sri Lanka, Maldives etc!
They do offer those packages from Glasgow, Birmingham, Newcastle, Manchester, Heathrow and Gatwick but use Emirates for the flights. So the airport would have to persuade them to use Qatar.

Looks like they sell those from MAN (Etihad) and BHX, NCL and GLA using Emirates. It's not beyond possible for them to start using QR, but I guess it depends on what the deals are with each Airline.
I was told a while back by a very reliable source that the BRS routes were selling very well. That could mean more frequencies or new routes from BRS or flights from both sides of the Severn. TUI have 2 more 787-900's coming this year and 2 more in 2019 so there's room for expansion. They also have 4 767's in the fleet, which I think was previously 3 after some movement within the group. 1 or 2 of the 787's are currently in short haul config, so could be ramped up to long haul config for futher long haul expansion.

They do base a single 787 at BHX so i could see them basing one at BRS in the future.
With CWL maybe there is a slim chance of them operating Florida as there is bound to be a lot of Florida bound passengers heading over the bridge straight past BRS to other airports and other airlines which they could attract if they launched a CWL service. Maybe as well they may look at the Caribbean in the summer as well as that seems to be popular from CWL. TUI have for 2018 they have added 2 direct destinations and an extra frequency to Dalaman and 2 indirect so hopefully there will be more for 2019.

TUI are doing a special charter flight to Krakow. I believe it's a holocaust memorial flight.
G-TAWU departed at 06.35 and will return at 22.40.
The return flight aircraft may be a different one.

TUI Summer flights - 2015-2018

Thought I'd take a look at what TUI have operated from CWL over the last number of years. I've compared the first week of August for each year to give a fair comparison:

2015
Total: 35
(23 destinations)
32 flights operated by TUI - (2x based B738)
3 flights operated by other operators (Air Malta to MLA, Air Europa to PMI and Thomas Cook to AYT)

2016
Total: 35
(21 destinations)
31 flights operated by TUI - (2x based B738)
4 flights operated by other operators (Air Malta to MLA, AlbaStar to PMI, Norwegian to TFS and Freebird to DLM)

2017
Total: 34
(20 destinations)
32 flights operated by TUI - (2x based B738)
2 flights operated by other operators (Eurowings to PMI and Norwegian to TFS)

2018
Total: 36
(21 destinations)
32 flights operated by TUI - (2x based B738)
4 flights operated by other operators (Eurowings to PMI, Norwegian to TFS and Freebird to AYT & DLM)

It seems TUI at CWL has stayed pretty stationary over the last four years.
In 2018, TUIs 2x B738 based at CWL will operate a carbon copy of their schedule from CWL in 2017 (with some slight changes in departure times here and there).
The two additional flights per week this year comes from Freebird operating a new 1x weekly route to AYT (last operated by TCX in 2015) and Freebird also operating an extra flight per week to DLM (making 3x weekly in total).

SUMMARY
Summer 2018 sees a new flight to AYT operated by Freebird and an extra weekly rotation to DLM also operated by Freebird.

Thank you Severn. It does show that TUI have a diverse network at CWL. Will be interesting to see if in the future they go to 3 based aircraft in the summer and if they did what routes they would add and increase frequency on .

Severn just did a post on the BRS forum about how many winter ski flights that BRS had today so i had a look at how many CWL and EXT had and both had a Geneva flight and Chambery flight each with Flybe but i noticed that TUI also operated a Chambery flight as well from Exeter as well. I'm surprised they don't operate one from CWL, anyone know if they have ever offered Chambery from Cardiff? I also noticed that TUI don't offer Lapland either from Cardiff like they do from EXT.

Looking back at winters 2003-2005 I have Flybe and Lauda Air operating ski charters to Chambery and Innsbruck on behalf of tour companies.

CAA stats show winter charters to Geneva and Chambery in the immediate years leading up to winter 2010-2011. They ceased from winter 2011-2012. I have a vague recollection that they may have been operated by Thomson. I only have incomplete historical records for CWL.

I decided to have a look back through the archives to see what routes Thomson as they were then used to operate and may be possible contenders to return in the future.
Chambery (though they do offer packages for this through Flybe), Innsbruck, Verona (they do offer packages for this through Flybe), Funchal, Girona, Bodrum, Sharm el Sheikh (though Egypt will be back this year with Hurghada), Fuenteventura, Monastir and Enfidha.
I can see possibly at least 2 of those routes being reinstated over the next couple of years and hopefully some of the others will be as well.

G-TUII was today's aircraft for the Bridgetown flight that departed at 11.45. It had to use stand 6 this time and the passengers were bussed to the aircraft as stand 7 is out of order because of the airbridge works on it.

Hello Jerry. Here is a taste of the CWL summer charter flight offering 20 years ago in 1998 from all airlines/tour companies. I think this is a complete list but I may have missed out one or two. It wasn't so easy to compile such details in those days with the Internet in its infancy so far as mass access was concerned.

  • VIM was the ICAO airline code. I had made no note of the airline nor of the aircraft type and am unable to establish it. It wasn’t BH Air.
Britannia used B 757, and B 767 for long haul
Airtours used A 320, and B 767 for long haul
Airworld used A 320
Spanair used MD80
Air Eurpopa used B737/B757
Air Malta used B737/300
Futura used B737
European Aviation used B737
Air Transat used A310 (from memory - I made no note at the time)

They had some really early departures back then! 1am to Arrecife! I also noticed they seem to get more out of the aircraft with 3 departures a day quite a lot, i'm naturally assuming it is the same aircraft they were using.

Would be nice if over time TUI brings some of the destinations back that were served back then back, especially Florida and as the airport grows maybe even base a 3rd 737 during the summer as well.
Thanks for the info.

These are arrival times. I meant to say that in my post but omitted to do so. I'm sorry for the confusion that engendered.

I looked at Balkan but their ICAO code is LAZ. Of course, it might have been a different one 20 years ago.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
