In summary TUI Summer 2019 is 3 based aircraft, Paphos, Corfu, Kos, Rhodes, Zante and Menorca each get an extra weekly flight and Palma de Mallorca gets 2 extra weekly flights. Dalaman goes down from 3 weekly to 2 weekly. Total of 45 weekly departures.
Naples, Dubrovnik and Enfidha are new routes while Hurghada goes year round.
On the holiday website there are also holidays available for Montenegro using the Dubrovnik flights.
On Friday 1 aircraft does a W pattern to Corfu for Bournemouth.
In all it's 90 weekly flights with 17,010 seats on sale compared to 72 weekly flights and 13,542 seats onsale for summer 2018.
So 9 extra departures a week from TUI.

According to SWAG the 2nd based 737 800 will arrive at 15.50 it will be G-TAWB and will have a long positioning flight from St Athan!

Today saw the 1st flight of Freebird Airlines operating from Antalya on behalf of TUI. The aircraft was TC-FBH an A320 with the Gold tail. Freebird will also operate a weekly Dalaman starting this Thursday for TUI.

It looks like that on Mondays during winter 2018/19 Cardiff will have 2 TUI aircraft operating out of it 1 to Tenerife and 1 to Hurghada. With Hurghada would it be classed as a new route and get a water canon salute as i know TUI used to operate to Sharm el Sheikh but i'm not sure if anyone operated to Hurghada?

I can't remember Hurghada from CWL before. Do new routes at CWL always get a water canon salute?

I believe so. I think Rome and Venice and Madrid had them and Guernsey did and of course Qatar got one and i'd hope as it's the first new route for TUI in a while they would get one as well.

I didn't realise that it was so widespread at the airport. I understand something like Qatar as it's a potential game-changer. Must be a tradition at CWL. I wonder if other airports do the same.

Must be a tradition at CWL.
Just watched a video of the Eurowings CRJ90 for Dusseldorf getting one as well.
I suppose for a small airport like CWL it's good PR to have the video out there and makes the airlines feel important as well and is a good way of marking the occasion.

I can't see HRG getting a water cannon as it's nothing out of the ordinary as another (albeit never been served before) holiday destination. MAD is a new route, but is also a new carrier. There's more of a fuss behind new city routes than holiday routes. There will probably something more low key in the Terminal on the day.

It maybe only a holiday route but it will be the only new route for the winter so maybe a good bit of PR to water canon it and mask the fact that it's the only new route for the winter.

If they do use the water cannon and we have low tempertures then it will be one giant ice block. Nothing like making work for youre self.

Hurghada has been dropped for winter 2018/19 and won't start until May 2019.

Or they would've had to bring in an aircraft from elsewhere, it is a real pity as it would be nice to have some winter growth.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
