Looked like not a lot of runway left. It looked heavy with the amount of runway it took to get up.

It was full from what I'm told. Also it could be that the pilot set the engine settings to use the full length of the runway to save fuel.

It makes you think when landing or take off and look out window and you get yr bearings,it makes the mind wander with not much runway left.Had that at brs on a continental as could reconise buildings and we were at least half way down runway when we finally touched tarmac.
That's the problem of flying from an airport where you know where land marks are.

G-TUII a 787 8 will be operating today's Montego Bay flight at 11.20. It arrived from BHX not so long ago.

G-TUIB 787 8 is operating today's Barbados flight departing at 11.25.

Thanks Jerry. Flight appeared to be full and quite a few West Country accents on board. Did a cruise the first week and the second week is here in Jamaica.
Good that they are attracting people from over the bridge for these flights.

I think they always have. I remember speaking to a West Country acquaintance when Zoom had Canadian routes from CWL. He used them and said that others from the area were invariably on the flights.

They always did well with up take from west country folk.If they did not then these flights would not work as there is not enough passengers over the welsh side.

I would have to disagree with that. There's a large cruise market in Wales which is supported by people from the Southwest. There may be a slight reduction in the number operated but they would still run. Both TUI and P&O run flights. There's also options from BHX and BOH that could be used, as well as LGW.
If there were that many people from the Southwest then these flights would have more frequencies from BRS.
When P&O pulled the CWL flights a few years ago, feedback was that strong that they switched back to using CWL and moved customers already booked on flights from other Airports.

I agree with that, Foxlimayankee.

It's an oddity that the West of England does not seem to support cruise flights as well as South Wales. The relative affluence of the West of England which also has a high number of older, comfortably-off, retired residents would seem to be an ideal market for cruising, but that doesn't seem to be the case, at least via local cruise flights to the Caribbean.

It's something that I and others have commented on in aviation message boards for many years. I remember once having a discussion about the subject with Clive on the WAF site. I think he was in the travel trade during his working life and he seemed to confirm the relative strengths of the two Severnside cruise markets.

Perversely, there have been regular cruises from Avonmouth for a number of years which presumably do all right or they would not continue to run, although two or three years ago Fred. Olsen tried cruises from Avonmouth along with the regular cruising company (Cruise & Maritime) but Fred. Olsen's venture only lasted one season from memory.

I'm not a cruise fan so I have no experience of this type of holiday. I think Cruise & Maritime is largely confined to Europe with its cruises from Avonmouth.

Today's aircraft from Jamaica is G-TUII a 787 8 and it will be arriving at 06.50 and departing to BHX at 09.20

Monday 24th December 2018
TUI Airways B788 (G-TUII) arrived early yesterday morning (Sunday 23rd) from Barbados before positioning to LGW (from where it departed again to Barbados).
The same aircraft arrived this morning at 6am from Barbados before positioning to BHX an hour later.

Something a bit different operating out of CWL today for TUI. TUIfly Nordic 737 800 SE-RFX so something different for the spotters.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
