When TUI bumped my Naples flight last summer to Bristol they waived the £1K uplift as a goodwill gesture.

Timing at play of course but even so Cardiff was cheaper than Bristol when booking initially.

Lots of chat on dried plum, of TUI cutting flights at BHX and BRS, where they have competition from Easyjet, Jet2, and Ryanair. Wishful thinking but I wonder if TUI would consider putting extra flights on from CWL, as they presently will have a spare plane at both the above airports on several days of the week this summer. Spencer Birns recently stated in the press, that demand at CWL was outstripping supply. On another note TUI has contracted 1000 extra hotels for summer 2025, to enable holiday makers to vary the length of the holidays they wish to take, instead of the usual 7,10, 14 nights, apparently they believe that holidays of 9, or 12 nights would prove to be popular. They will use their partner airlines for the extra flights, perhaps a chance for Ryanair to expand at CWL next year.

As nice as it would be, I can't see it benefiting CWL that much.
The best I can see is maybe an extra W pattern flight or two.

TUI are a holiday company that has its own airline, their primary business is providing holidays, not providing flights. They have obviously realised they can get people on their holidays without the added complications of having their own seasonal airline and requirements for expensive summer leases from other airlines. They need a huge uplift in seats to get those people to their holidays which has meant costly summer leases from 3rd party airlines, and even part setting up their own AMCI airline for extra capacity.
I can see this just being a move so they don't have to sub in as much summer capacity.

It looks like for Summer 2025 TUI will extend Ibiza, Heraklion, Zante and Reus into October all 1 weekly. Palma de Mallorca will be 4 weekly instead of the 2 weekly it's scheduled for in October 2024. Also Antalya will be 3 weekly instead of 1 weekly. Kos and Larnaca will also be 2 weekly instead of 1 weekly, Menorca though will drop from 2 weekly to 1 weekly. This lasts roughly to the 3rd week of October. So that'll be an extra 9 weekly departures during October 2025 compared to October 2024.
So i wonder then if CWL will see the 3rd based aircraft being extended into October?

Good to see the TUI flight to Palma starts on Tuesday once a week until May when the Summer 2024 season starts with them.

Tui really are an asset to CWL. I’d quite like to see them do more in the winter even if that’s just some seasonal Christmas destination style routes.

I remember years ago Airtours used to do day trips to places dotted all over Europe from various airports including CWL. I went on 3 to Rome, Venice and Gibraltar. I wonder if TUI would consider doing that at some point during the winter, I especially that normally on a Wednesday the aircraft based at CWL is just sitting there. Just a thought.

They don't need to though do they? In their view they can just book people onto the likes of Easyjet at Bristol for those types of holidays. It would be good if they used the aircraft on Wednesdays instead of it sitting there.
I agree Sam, CWL could really do with more winter traffic, even if its only Ski flights.
TUI don't seem to be interested in flying ski flights from Cardiff. Exeter has Chambery from December to March but they don't seem to be interested in doing that from Cardiff. Another is Lapland flights. They do operate or did operate one from Exeter but never seem interested to do the same at Cardiff.

Like I said Jerry it was only a thought. Besides it's a day trip rather than a holiday so to some destinations with EZY it wouldn't work and means getting to the headache which is Bristol.

Still plenty of time for them to add. There's slots available on Thursday to do that.

It's also not just Jet2 they have to fight back against but also Easyjet holidays.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
