Looks like the A3 only runs hourly to the airport from Shipley at :20 past the hour - every day of the week (incl weekends).

Bristol Airport is similar to LBA with the airport on a remote hill well outside of the city, and in June it posted record numbers of travellers using the Bristol airport bus services - over 100,000 in the month. This included 20,000 staff trips (as they’ve made it free to use for staff). So clearly using the bus hasn’t fallen out of favour as the numbers using the services are up by a fifth in comparison to last year.

In the larger urban areas, not everyone has their own car, or if they do, wants to then pay for parking or getting a taxi all the way out to the airport - so a good bus service is key, and the better it is, the more people tend to use it. The main bus service from Bristol to the airport runs 24/7 and at peak times, every 12 minutes. LBA shouldn’t be cutting services or shortening the operating times, they need to be doing the opposite. I’m sure the more money LBA is willing to invest, the better the services, and the more people will use the bus?
It's the frequency that matters as you quite rightly say. If punters turn up having just missed a bus, are going to wait 55 minutes for the next one? No. 25 minute wait is not so bad. Supply creates its own demand

I believe that the contract for the bus service rest with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, so it will pull the 'strings'

Exactly, so if there is just one A3 at 20 past the hr out of shipley i will now definitely give myself more time, 2 buses per hr is far better esp when flying, with just one bus per hr to the the airport its a case of either early bus with a long wait in terminal or risk it and turn up last min.

I pre book with SJK, then ring when through bag collection, they will normally pick up from the free zone subject to availability due to the no return within an hour. But they will tell you when you phone.
I do the same wirh SJK. Never found myself in a position where Arrow are the only option.

Arrow are a set of rip-off money grabbers. When we landed late from Antalya on Sun Express after our divert due to the runway closure in July.
The lass in the Arrow booking office told us it would be at least a 90 min wait then cost us £25 to go 5 miles to Stanningley (west Leeds). Thankgod my older brother came to pick us up.

Won’t be using Arrow in October either when fly back in from Arrecife on a Monday at 23:05. I’ll most likely walk to the Free 1 hour car park and try book a Uber.

To be fair, Arrow are the official taxi firm for the airport and they will have paid a hefty price for the privilege. It's a nobrainer that they will pass that cost onto their customers.

I'd try a 'test' booking first with Uber. They seem to be very expensive out of reasonable hours. Example, when taking an early morning flight in March, I used a local taxi from BD2 to LBA 1hr fee zone for about £15. Uber was £44!

I agree, you cant really blame them. Of course its really up to the traveller to get a quote and if they arent happy to ring an alternative firm.

I think the main problem is that they are a Private Hire firm and not a Taxi firm who were and I still think that they regulated by LCC
When they left, many passengers were glad to see them go because they were expensive too. I don't think passengers would be as bothered by the charges if they had an upfront airport usage charge of say £5 with the taxi fare starting at £5 with subsequent mileage charged at a normal taxi rate.

Just used train from Coleraine in Northern Ireland to Antrim then straight outside station onto airport bus to Belfast International.
LBA needs a train bus link but no land near horsforth station to do it so will have to wait for parkway if it ever happens!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
