Correct if I am wrong Aviador but would it not be around 4 years since we popped in to Greenacre Hall at Rawdon for exactly the same consultation?? So to my mind, it means that absolutely sod all has happened since and we seem to be going round in circles again!!

Maybe West Yorkshire should apply to become part of Greater Manchester and we might actually see some action.

The difference is that with the last consultation, people were being asked to offer their thoughts on the 3 routes without any detail at all being known with regard to how each route would be delivered. Since then work has been going on to provide more detail in terms of engineering, cuttings, bridges, more exact routes, etc., so hopefully this consultation will be more meaningful than the last, although in my view it is still just going through a necessary process, because the Council have already made it clear that they want a Parkway Station with Park and Ride and bus interchange, none of which is viable unless they go with Plan A. I doubt therefore that comments made will make much difference to the final outcome. Incidentally, LBA were intending to lobby the Council and West Yorkshire Combined Authority to fast-track the planning for the station as they considered the original timeline too slow, and I noticed Leeds Council has mentioned the need to deliver the station as soon as possible. Last time I saw anything, the target was to be open by 2022. The road will clearly take longer. As usual around this part of the world, why do something now if you can take forever and do it in a few years time! Of course I doubt they could cope with actually doing two major road schemes in the city at once so we probably have to wait until the East Leeds Orbital route is completed before they consider starting. It has taken them over a year just to get around to painting double red lines on the roads leading to the airport!

We had the right to appoint a Mayor for the Yorkshire region, as the Manchester area has done.
Unfortunately when it came to a vote tribal politics won, as no one party prepared to compromise, regretfully politics at all levels now a paid vocation and we get what we pay for.
I fear for HS2, Chris Grayling is now the whipping boy for the Labour front bench as Corbyn outlined at PMQ today, there is so much negitive news on HS2, both he and HS2 may hit the buffers.

I am going to pop down to Yeadon Town Hall next Monday evening to have a quick skeg. The plans for all options seem very detailed now, so I take back what I said about no progress in 4 years. Still got to be Option A for my money.

You can all see now what has been happening behind the scenes since the last public consultation, with all the details and plans now available. I hope everyone will attend one of the drop in sessions and whilst there, ensure you give your support, hopefully to Option A, but failing that Option B. In my view, Option C is just the 'do nothing' option in disguise. There are bound to be plenty of people who don't want any of this in their back yard - a situation LBA has faced many times in the past and that has often stalled or prevented developments that have left LBA lagging way behind its competitors and not delivering the service that Leeds, Bradford and the greater region deserve. It is vital therefore that all of us make sure that we declare our support for this. We have been banging on about it for years - now it is there and up for grabs. We cannot just assume it will all be OK - please go out and declare your support!

Whilst I fully support Option A it does seem to have been designed without thought to the future.
The new station is just a foot note, not the central area of this scheme. Option A intersection with the A658 just shown as a standard T junction, not the place where North/south traffic leaves or joins the A658 and commuter traffic join/leave option A.
When you note last week the government are now planning to ban new petrol and diesel cars sales by 2032, you wonder how this plan will cope with the major changes we need to make in a very short period to our travel plans.
A parknride and local train services will be vital by 2032, even by 2022 restrictions on the A658 will have to be brought in under the clean air act, now is the time to act, with this new road.
Designing a three lane road (start of Option A from A65) is a throw back to the 1990 and is not the way forward, you only have to look at the new measures on the M6 Junction 15 northbound to seperate traffic flowing in different directions. I wonder what happens if you break down in this section, to see how difficult it is.
Designing something that we know is dangerous, seems strange.

The final phase of consultation for a new Leeds Bradford Airport link road is to take place where the public will be able to view detailed plans for the three proposed routes leading to Leeds Bradford Airport.

Option A offers the most direct route with access to a proposed airport parkway station and new proposed business park but option A is the most expensive with a price tag of around £90- £100 million.

Option B passes to the South of the airfield joining the current road network before the existing airport flyover tunnel. The estimated cost of option B is between £60 - £70 million.



Option C is a series of improvements to the existing road network.

Looks as though Option B goes right across Plane Tree Hill, directly behind Multiflight and more or less follows the airport South Side entry road. Originally the plan was to join the A658 further along Victoria Avenue towards Yeadon lights.

Although Option A is still my preferred option but the new route for Option B is a significant improvement. I can't see how the rail parkway can be achieved without Option A though.

Option A only for me. Clearly the most suitable to incorporate the rail station link road.

@White Heather i know its a forum but surely the airport/council should take consideration the opinion poll at the top of this page. Clearly a majority think A is the better option.

Maybe they would Sherburnflyer92. Perhaps if one of our admins were able to show this thread and poll to the council at one of the events being held, they would take note but generally with all these things, they require a person giving their support to also give their details - name, address etc. I certainly had to do that when I attended one of the consultation events for the terminal extension last autumn.
