With this new devolution pot of money now is the time to think big on mass transport infrastructure solutions in Leeds....my bet, it will be spent on more cycle lanes and enhancing the congestion charge infrastructure from just taxis being penalised to all cars being charged!!

If you look at recent WYCA minutes from last couple months they were progressing it to full business case (lots of detail there).

Quietly the cost has ballooned to £42m.

Meanwhile they continue to refuse to evaluate any other option in light of this increased cost and revised terminal location.

Which is for the reasons I keep telling you but which you don't seem to accept Leedslad. They tend to accept the views of the engineers reports and projected costs so why not forget your direct email line? It will not happen, and especially now with passenger numbers likely to take several years just to get back to 4m.

The way things are going we won’t need a rail link as there will be no airlines left either able to or be willing to operate from our little airfield. Whatever airlines survive will be quite happy to operate from Manchester, and Donny will be happy with all the big freighters. Having more punters going over the hill to Manchester will also help to justify the big investment in NPR.

They may as well sell up now to a developer who can build an eco-friendly village with wind/solar powered homes, a shopping parade with a GP surgery and dentist and a woodland park opening out onto Yeadon Dam at the Western end. Bye bye nimbys and a happy local MP!!

One thing I can rely on is Bigman to have the most pessimistic view of the situation!

You would be better writing to Leeds City Council to add your support and ensure LBA does have a future.

On case you forget, a lot of airports are having a very tough time at the moment, but not all have around 15 based Jet2 aircraft, or any Ryanair presence. We lost BA, which is a blow but not unexpected, but don't make it seem worse than it already is Bigman. Try the glass half full approach instead of glass half empty. We are all depressed enough already!

Can you blame me in the current climate. We have now got pretty much all our eggs in 1 basket, so what happens if Jet2 don't make it through?
I am sure they will. They haven't even used the money offered to them by Government yet and they had a substantial amount behind them with good reported bookings for next year.

The bigger risk comes if there is a second peak with a further lockdown, though it would hit Jet2 less than others if it was in the winter months since they pretty much hibernate for parts of the winter anyway.

I am sorry for being overly negative, and thanks for pointing it out White Heather. Being stuck home alone for over 10 weeks is driving me stir crazy and I am finding it very hard to think positive about anything. Keeping sane is not easy!! I certainly hope that Jet2 come through this fighting fit (my next door neighbour works for them and is currently furloughed), because if they do, they could pretty much clean up at LBA. A lot of people have commented on the BA cut-backs over the last few years, so I suppose it is no surprise. The one good thing surely is the need to get the economy going again. Not only that, with fewer trains on the track and less passengers to disrupt, now would be the ideal time to get the diggers rolling in.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
