Yes Leeds does the 20 mph zones too. Initially it started with side streets in residential areas but now they're creeping in on some main roads. I'm sure it will all be worthwhile once gangster granny is cycling to Tescos to do her weekly shop. It'll make all the difference

Just look at the way Manchester is fighting for extra money at the moment and want more than 100 mill that's been offered....that's why they've also got a fantastic transport system and MAN airport is where it is. Compare that to the quivering interviews of Juduth Blake on the news and Tom Riordon ( he was even praised by Matt Hancock at one of those press conferences to the nation) working alongside the Government on Covid on some sort of working group.....the reason we are where we are with LBA and the transport infrastructure is because of the long term inertia of the council. It really makes me want to move. I still dont understand why we are waiting so long for the terminal development planning approval and i also cant understand why the link road was refused. If you look at airport developments abroad they always sort the transport infrastructure before any development work. If I could get a job at MAN I think I'd leave.

One of my daughters friends lives in Rothwell and dropping her off the other day I noticed a large 20mph sign painted on the road where she lives, a cul de sac less than 100 metres long. What a nonsense and waste of money.
good point len, I see that all the time in my job, big 20mph signs everywhere for back alley streets that are totally pointless and a waste of money, new raised kerbs that stick out even on major roads, crazy new road layouts that are too narrow just because they want to stick a cycle lane in, signs everywhere! All these things just clutter up the roads, as a comparison by looking at old photos from the 1960/70/80s and even 90s you can see how open and spacious the roads looked back then compared to now. Im aware that its in the name of health and safety but come on councils are we not going a bit over the top!!

Confirmation the cost of the Parkway station has ballooned to £42m! Item 12 table 2

Utter madness when they costed direct heavy rail link at "upto £100m" and the new terminal is much less distance from the rail line so presumably much less than £100m

As from the February 2021 service changes I understand Otley will be ome part of Transdev's Flyer Buses network.

I'm not sure if this means they'll be changes to the current 62 service, but I'll post an update when more details are known.

As far as I can see the A3 will be extended from the airport to Otley and the 62 will just run Keighley to Otley only

Will it run all day through the week though as per the current A3 timetable? If so, I know a certain Otley resident that will be very happy with that on a Friday and Sunday.

Nothing is confirmed yet apart from the 965 is being extended to create a quick connection from Weston, Wharfedale Hospital & Otley town centre to the rail network at Menston from next month.

2 possible theories doing the rumour rounds:

62 will run Keighley - Iikley only.

Either current A2 (Bradford - Shipley - Yeadon - Airport) or 784 (Skipton - Iikley - Otley) will be extended to operate Leeds-Bradford Airport - Otley section of route.

The new livery for buses on the 965 look good. I think that Transdev will relish the use of the old Yorkshire Tiger depot as a platform for further expansion in the West Yorkshire Region,

Is that the depot at Idle? Please tell me more as this is the first I have heard of this.

Yes it is the depot at Idle. Transdev moved into the depot when Yorkshire Tiger lost all the routes in the Bradford Area during the new Tendering Process, which just left them the Airport routes. So they were probably not viable as the nearest Tiger Depots are Waterloo in Huddersfield or Elland. They run all the Airport routes from there and also the 784 to Skipton. The Tender for the Airports routes is worth about £1.3m to Transdev. The routes are licenced to Yorkshire Coastliner. I think that the Idea that the 784 may extend to the airport seems good as the bus will only have to do dead mileage from the Airport to Idle and not from Ilkley

Consultation opening on Monday for the proposed Parkway Station

The LBA Parkway is a West Yorkshire Combined Authority led scheme to provide a new rail station on the existing Harrogate Line, between Horsforth Station and the southern end of the Bramhope tunnel.

The objective of the Parkway Station is to ease current congestion and associated air quality issues by improving access by public transport and by encouraging fewer people to drive to the airport.

Further information on the scheme including details of how to get involved in the engagement will be available on the below webpage from Monday 18 January until 21 February.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
