well TCX are ok then with only the 200 series should they wish to consider BRS (unlikley given their MAN focus). It also rings into play Etihad with their current fleet. I believe their expanded airport will be open soon so maybe they might think about rout expansion also.
According to Wiki (not always the most reliable source but in the past they've seemed ok with airline fleet details) Etihad currently has 18 B787-8s with another 24 on order, and an order for 30 B787-10s.

They also have orders for 40 A350-900s and 22 A350-1000s but perhaps these might not be suitable for BRS operationally.
 
Yep 787 9 and they also have 330's but not sure for how long. I believe they use this at EDI frequently. A350, I think the former CEO said in a recent airport publication that Bristol were almost operationally ready for this aircraft (whatever that means)
 
Wiki not the best this time , Etihad dont own any Boeing 787-8s they are all 787-9s but still ok for Bristol operations.

Does anyone know what they are doing in the road next to the security station that checks authorised vehicles heading to the road in front of the terminal? Workmen were busy there today with the road blocked off and traffic having to use a new entrance road that's been constructed in recent weeks.

The work around the security checkpoint near the terminal is for the construction of stand 7.
Stand 7 will be between the terminal and the Fire Station. The stand will be nose into the roadway so the works going on currently is probably extending the boundary to accommodate the new stand.

Briefly at the airport today and the multi-storey car park construction is now beginning to take shape. Work also progresses on the aircraft stand mentioned in the previous posts. In addition there is work being carried out in the area partly occupied by the short stay pick-up park. A big digger and other machinery were in evidence with substantial excavation of the surface taking place. Does anyone know what that's for?

There has hardly been a time at BRS in the past 20 years where some building work is not taking place. This isn't a criticism but a comment, and is indicative of the way the airport has developed and is continuing to develop.
 
The road immediately in front of the terminal building - ie the one used by buses, airport taxis and other authorised vehicles - is currently closed at the western (exit) end for what appears to be development works in the area of the exit barrier.

Consequently, buses have to do three-point turns and exit in the same direction as they arrived, leaving the secure area via a barriered slipway on the opposite side of the security office to the entry lane.

I smiled to myself this afternoon when one hi-viz jacket clothed member of staff, who had obviously been delegated to assist bus drivers in their 180 degree turns, seemed to believe he was an aircraft marshaller by the way he was helping the drivers as they reversed towards the pavement during their turn. His hand signals replicated a marshaller's to the letter. Give him his due though; his signals were very clear.

I half expected an E145 to come taxiing along the road.

Incidentally, the multi-storey car park and new aircraft stand works seem to be progessing at a pace.
 
Believe that the works you are referring too,are to install new high speed rising bollards.Apparently the previous bollards were to slow rising and lowering causing bottle necks of traffic trying to exit and had on more than one occasion started to rise whilst a vehicle was overhead.Did hear that on one occasion a police car was left marooned in mid air.

The barriers at both ends have been problematical for a number of years. I've been at the airport several times when either the entry barriers or the exit barriers have jammed leading to long queues of buses and airport taxis trying to access or leave the road in front of the terminal. The entrance rising bollards have been replaced in recent months with a different type that looks more like an angled rising platform.

I was at the airport briefly today, changing buses after my walk. The multi-storey car park seems well on the way to completion. The car parking section of the airport website says they will be taking bookings from 18 June. I have no picture I'm afraid but it looks a decent structure as far as any multi-storey car park can look attractive.

It's not as high as some that can be seen in towns and cities, although the sloping ground on which the airport terminal is built and which continues to fall away beyond the terminal means that taller buildings such as the hotel and the new car park aren't as intrusive into the skyline as would be the case on a flat and level setting.

The new aircraft stand which is next to the airport access road also seems to be coming along well. Again, no pictures from me.

The work on the exit barriers was completed a couple of weeks ago and they are now similar to those at the entrance.
 
Wonder if there are still plans for some kind of covered walkway so one can get from the MSCP (or hotel) to the terminal without getting soaked if the weather's bad. I seem to remember that there was something like that in the original plans, but that was from the 'transport hub' on top of the second MSCP block to the terminal, and my understanding is that this second MSCP may not be built now?

The draft new master plan might throw some light on future developments in so far as the original master plan is concerned, depending upon which of the three terminal scenarios is adopted.

As for the buses, with the car park and staff buses, the A1, A2, A3, A4, 216, Falcon and airport-accredited taxis, together with other coaches that are sometimes given permission to access the road immediately in front of the terminal building, the bus stop areas can become quite congested at times so a purpose-built transport hub would be very useful.
 
South Side

Is there another building in the process of construction on the South Side? When I walked up Winters Lane from Redhill this morning I looked across towards the Silver Zone car park from the south side of the top of Goblin Combe and saw what appeared to be the metal skeleton of a large building. When I got closer my view was obstructed by trees and I couldn't see the 'building' if that is what it is.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.

Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
