Good news! I sense easyJet have done their research and see LS are not cheap for city routes with a fleet that is due to retire….. I wonder if the strategy is to go for these markets to build upto a base and give Jet2 a run for their money on consumer price and choice?

Popular city break destination and yes the route is served but Jet2 aren't cheap so it'll be good for the route to have some competition.
We've also got Ryanair to Beauvais. I would have thought there would be more potential for a German service personally.

Hopefully Geneva and Paris are just a ramping up to an eventual
base.

It may be but I think new routes would be better than diluting existing ones.

Yep I'm using them in a few weeks but Paris is a big city and Beauvais is more like flying to Luton for London instead of flying into Heathrow.
As for German services I'd say that the airport probably needs more competition on routes like Amsterdam and for Jet2 to expand its city routes first. Many of them are way to limited.

Great to see future growth. So that’s EasyJet UK, EasyJet Swiss and EasyJet EU now all operating from LBA.

I wonder if EasyJet have seen a gap in the Leisure market seen Ryanair aren't planned to operate there Leeds - Paris Beauvais route during the winter season. Maybe that might change now!

Meanwhile during January Jet2 reduce there Leeds - Paris Cdg service to just 2 weekly.

Looking at Southend, Newcastle & Southampton ops, my guess would be Amsterdam, Faro, Alicante, Malaga & Palma will be the next easyJet routes without having to set a base up.

Who’s to say they won’t set a base up?? 😉😉

I never said the wouldn’t be a base. Especially as I know EasyJet are the airline LBA are hoping to build up with into the future..
But judging by how slow this growth is I suspect the bucket and spade routes may possibly come next summer 2025, whilst the based operations come in 2026 when the full LBAREGEN Terminal works are completed.

They built BHX with a lot of W flying for years and now its a base. NCL, SEN, SOU all W patterns with more destinations then LBA. SEN will become a base next year. I wouldn't be mad to see ALC/FAO added which is more then possible. I think AMS is a no brainer. Hopefully we can see that one next.

In the meantime, anybody looking at CDG? prices look very very attractive.

Beauvais is 102 km from Paris….not good if you're going for a weekend break in my opinion.

I’ve used BVA 3 times and would now choose it over CDG. Express coaches leave every 10-15 mins direct into central Paris. I’ve not used CDG since my crew days and I believe there is still no direct metro/train service into the centre.

There is definitely a rail link into Paris, has been for many years.

I’ve used the direct rail from CDG into the centre and it’s really very good. There is a shuttle bus from each terminal to the station within the airport
It certainly is - add to that the train journey from CDG to Marne la Vallee station which is inside Eurodisney takes all of 9 minutes hence I can see this route proving popular to families…

49 trips undertaken last year. First done this year which was to North Wales where surprisingly the only slippery surfaces were in Conwy with the castle and it's walls closed due to the ice.

Well over 4 million steps taken this year already. And about 12,500 photos.
The joys of travel. Train from Edinburgh to Leeds is cancelled so having another night in Edinburgh and heading back in the morning!
Tbf Edinburgh isn't a bad city to be stuck in.
A week off work done which resulted in 6 day trips , 50 miles walked and only 2500 photos, Going to work is more of a holiday as I tended to be out of my flat an hour earlies in my week off and back for after 8pm
