Spent a bit of time at the cemetery end yesterday evening and it was noticeable that when A319 G-EZDJ left for BFS it did so on 14 from what looked like the old 28 (or whatever taxiway it now is) interchange. It certainly didn't back track to the loop. Hope that was reflective of a light fuel load as opposed to a light pax load

An Airbus 319 can easily takeoff from the intersections for both 14 and 32 even with a full passenger load when doing sub 1 hour routes - so it shouldn’t be evidence of a light passenger load.

No I doubt it. It's only a couple of hundred miles between Leeds and Belfast. The average type of passenger using the route won't be carrying lots of baggage. This combination means that even with a full load of passengers the aircraft will usually be light unless extra fuel is carried.

They often depart from the intersection of the taxiway when departing on 32 too. Yet they are increasing their flights suggesting good loads.

Did that for us when i flew to Belfast except departed from end of taxiway delta for 32 departure. Only short hop so light fuel load and most don't have hold baggage

Looks like LDY was the new airport on the network, not DSA as rumoured by the fan boys.. (obviously) haha
Much needed as well - I used to use a 90 minute taxi each way in to Derry from Belfast

It’s not a huge City (a great little City mind) but lots of towns scattered around in the north, so I’m sure a decent untapped market for a sensibly sized operation

So are we adding this to the speculatory possibly maybe would be nice to have routes if we ever get a base?
Someone has alluded on the forum that sounds a bit like a type of dried fruit, that easyjet may be looking at another base for 2025. Whether that’s U.K. or not I don’t know, but that’s the opinion of one person who appears to work there so may know.

I would therefore assume that given the geographical spread of bases, it could only be either a return to NCL as a base or a completely new setup at LBA - short of any surprises (this person ruled out SOU) - unless of course any front runner to take on DSA has been in early talks in this respect..

The airport CEO and Commercial Director for aviation were both missing at short notice from today's meeting. Highly unusual and it did make me wonder if they were away meeting some airline or other, maybe even thrashing out a contract. Can but hope.

During the meeting someone mentioned claims that a) DSA would reopen this year, and b) when it did, TUi were going to make it their main UK base. Somehow the LBA folk managed to keep a straight face, but when asked if DSA posed a problem for LBA it was made clear that the answer is no. In fact there was some scepticism that the things we keep hearing are likely to happen at all. Insider knowledge? Time will tell.

Great news.
Not good timings for business travellers, but good for leisure. I wonder why they chose a route that is already served?

Fingers crossed for a German destination next.
Well, its served 4 x weekly with Jet2, which means , yes it is served, but not with lots of seats relative to the size of the market. Targeting an established but underserved market makes sense for everyone really. Less risk for the airline and the airport will want easyjet to succeed and gain confidence in the opportunities at LBA.

Great news. Paris is so underserved from LBA.

@LBAYORKIE I'm thinking the timings are irrelevant for a flight that only operates twice weekly. Still welcomed nonetheless.

Great news and good times! Hopefully can capitalise on some Disney package bookings also. I would of preferred AMS, but NOT complaining. Hopefully AMS is next similar to what they have launched from NCL/SOU. Only 2 months ish till it starts so a lot of seats to sell. It is typically a lates market though. Well done easyJet.

Popular city break destination and yes the route is served but Jet2 aren't cheap so it'll be good for the route to have some competition.

Hi, I was born and lived in B36 for a long time - Lindale Avenue, just around the corner from Hodge Hill Comp.
I just noticed your postcode on a post.

Do you still live in the area?
