The price attracts the customer (especially flight only) the brand comes further down the list, people don't care who they fly with as long as they get their holiday at the price they want.
Price is part of it yes but don't underestimate the power of the brand of an airline like Easyjet. It's part of why airports including LeedsBradford want them to operate from their airport. Easyjet is a massive European wide airline brand there's few airline brands less well known.

Why is Easyjet seemingly such an important airline for LeedsBradford to get onboard?

Think Jet2 have bucked that trend, although there appears to be a policy of getting rid of some of the aspects that passengers liked, things like resort check in etc. However in essence you’re spot on, they also like choice and convenience. Problem for anyone setting up from DSA would be the diversity in ticket pricing. If you have to offer bargain bucket fares on all routes to attract traffic your yields will be low and revenue management will be tricky. However if easyjet can offer a network which allows TUI and other tour operators to take seats then it might make DSA a more viable proposition. Think it’s important in this industry to never say never. I’ve no doubt people like Christian Foster are running on hope, they won’t be able to fully understand the nuances of the business. But I also have no doubt that easyjet will have ‘expressed an interest’ in DSA if only to try to plan.

Be worth noting easyJet's Sun flights start for the first time this weekend. Looking at the seat maps so far.

LBA arrivals board showing the flights operated by OpenSkies this time🤦‍♂️

First PMI outbound planned on A319 seat maps looks well filled, inbound not so much.
First AGP outbound planned on A320 seat maps also looked well filled, again inbound not so much.

Seems encouraging for first flights out and good prices still also. Early season, lets hope the sales / load factors continue to be encouraging.

At the same time, Jet2 base starts in LTN on the 1st!

EasyJet Spring 2026 flights schedule is now on sale up until June 24th, meanwhile EasyJet Hoildays are on sale up until end of October 2026.
So far it currently looks like a copy-cat of this summer. Expect changes or possibly new routes to be added at a later date.

Belfast Int’l = 3-4x weekly
Malaga = 1-2x weekly
Palma de Mallorca = 2-4x weekly
Paris Cdg = 2x weekly

It's not really treading water EasyJet have just extended the booking dates of their existing network particularly the holiday division to avoid missing out on the early bookers to others.

It's not airport specific, keep your fingers crossed because what they are doing at LBA is a carbon copy of what they did down here at BHX and eventually we got what we wanted.

Easyjet.com Leeds/Bradford May 2025 schedule. Don’t worry as next month June see’s extra flights added to Alicante, Belfast Int’l & Malaga, whilst Paris Cdg route will stop mid-June for its summer break

4x routes – 8x weekly flights
Belfast Int’l – 3x weekly
Malaga – 1x weekly

A chat with a pal of mine within easyjet suggests LBA is hotly tipped to be a base in the not too distant future. This is from people on the line down south so whether it’s internet rumour manifesting isn’t clear but it’s apparently being widely talked about amongst colleagues. NCL reopening and LBA as a new base.. No idea of when either.

No idea of when either.
I have no info at all on the matter, but it would be unusual to open a base in winter and winter 25/26 isn’t that far off anyway. A summer season launch makes sense for any uk base esp as they are trying to grow their holiday product. That doesn’t automatically mean summer 2026. A team in Easyjet will be responsible for mapping out network development for the next 5 years or so, and its possible that if LBA is part of their plans that someone has leaked that, and so its a while off, if its happening at all.

Let's hope the rumour mill comes true. At the end of the day this gradual build up of away based flying does tend to mirror what has happened prior to other bases opening. But we all know in this industry absolutely nothing should be taken for granted

Possibly, to make it clear this is galley FM type stuff so it doesn’t necessarily reflect on reality, but I suspect given the small growth at LBA recently with the addition of new routes it’s a statement of intent from easyJet so the rumours from within just add more weight. The NCL I’ve heard from numerous people so I think that’s probably going to happen first if the rumours are true, with a possibly S27 launch at LBA if it is on the cards.

It’s clear that the people trying to reopen DSA are targeting easyJet. Sean M offered a cryptic post a couple of weeks ago about rumours of a currently unserved U.K. airport getting some easyJet flights adds weight to a possible offering from DSA. I know we think it unlikely but the people of FlyDoncastet and MAI will be working hard to get some statements of intent from airlines to bolster their case for reopening. Never say never.

Other new bases mentioned are Zurich and Athens for the Swiss and European arms respectively.

Everyone on here keeps talking about Easy opening a base at LBA but seem happy with what Easy are doing here now with the supposed promise of a base in the not too distant future.

If you look at what they are running at Liverpool you might be surprised, as I was, and think, rightly, that we are not doing very well at all in comparision. Their range of flights from there puts us to shame. I don't know how long their programme took to build up there but our measly offering, compared, is something of a disgrace when we have been courting them for what seems ages and Liverpool is only a stones throw away from Man.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
