Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

'Plane finder' app on my iphone had B767 N764RD heading Northeast over the dales tonight, looked like going down into durham/newcastle, any ideas what it might be doing anyone?

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

I'm not sure about that Michael. I have tried looking through FlightRadar's playback system and I cannot see any B767 up around the LBA to NEW area within 7pm and 10pm. I have got the flying log for N764RD:

Latest flights by N764RD:
RYN6212 seen @ 2011-07-31 14:15 CET
HFY461 seen @ 2011-07-30 21:06 CET
RYN6711 seen @ 2011-07-30 20:41 CET
HFY461 seen @ 2011-07-30 17:55 CET
CMB549 seen @ 2011-07-29 12:27 CET

Unfortunately you can't tell much from them! What time roughly was it around at - I could've missed it searching through a large time scale?!

On another note anyway, tonight's A320 BHAir service was operated by LZ-BHC, was quite low flying over my house in Baildon as well.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

thanks Tom for your efforts, it was about 9pm and was certainly lower going 'up the dale' than normal, Jet2's heading for NEW usually go over here at about 15,000ft, whereas the 767 went over at about 10,000ft. Appeared to have come over from Cork area via Bristol. The mystery remains!

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

I saw that too Michael, and I was at a friends in Mirfield. It was very low too. Accordign to the LBA website, we have another Italian charter from Rome this week too - same airlines as last time (I can't remember its name) but they used an MD80- on their last trip into LBA. Maybe its a mistake, but it was definitely showing earlier today.

I think you will find that it was going to DTV as I seem to remember it showing on the http://www.dtvmovements.co.uk web site. There have been a couple of 767's in there in the last few days and I presumed (as they didn't show on the normal DTV arrivals and departures board) that they were mil charters. Only a presumption though.

There is a Titan 767 in today (G-POWD) which arrived as AWC288Y which may be there for similar reasons.

The dtvmovements web site is informative and quite interesting, I'd suggest having a look there.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

[offtopic]Thanks for posting this website link airforced.
It's very interesting looking back in the summers, preferably summer - July'07. Lots of Thomson and FlyGlobespan flights as well as Iberworld, Spanair and XL in and out of DTV!
I never knew Wizz Air were flying into DTV as well!

It's a shame. What was a very busy airport with loads of potential, is struggling today..[/offtopic]

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

I didn't see it but certainly heard it!

The LBA arrivals board is showing an Onur Air flight into LBA (OHY flight code) from Bodrum and Edinburgh on Friday evening. Since Onur Air don't operate into LBA normally this could be something to do with the repatriation of the Holidays4U passengers following that company going bust. The papers today did say that they may be flown to a different airport to what they left from. The fact that this flight is coming to LBA also suggests that perhaps it will actually be a Jet2 aircraft doing the flight on behalf of Onur Air - hence it ending up at its home base. This is what happened during the ash cloud last year on several flights.

It would be nice to see Onur Air back though. Pity it is late evening when it might be getting dark.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Hi. First post on a civil aviation forum (I generally prefer my aircraft to be fast, pointy, and blowing stuff up) but I live close enough to LBA to be able to watch the arrivals and departures without getting off the settee so it's about time I said hello !

To business - does anyone know what was going on about 18.30 - 1900 yesterday ? (Thursday 4th). There was what loked like a Jet2 757 flying 4 or 5 missed approaches on rwy 14 before it disappeared in the general direction of Manchester.

Was something up or is this normal training and I only noticed it because they happened to be doing it at tea time ? An inquisitive small boy (and his dad) need to know !

Thanks, Stuart.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Hi there StuartP and welcome to Forums4Airports.

I think the aircraft that you are referring to was Jet2.com B757-200 G-LSAB. It departed for Tenerife(South) around 2 hours late yesterday evening around 1710 and whilst on its way it appeared that there was a technical
fault, which is, at present, unknown to us on Forums4Airports.
It did several circuits over LBA at around 1900hrs for a good half-hour to burn fuel, before making a successful landing at LBA.

There is a much further insight on the case on The Leeds/Bradford Airport (LBA) Diversions Topic here:
topic53-1056.html

The posts by fellow members may go back a couple of pages as well.

Welcome again StuartP and I hope you can make a few contributions yourself in the future,
Regards, Tom.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Ah, thank you. Sorry, I would have no doubt found that if I'd looked a bit further.

Regards, Stuart.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

I was in Ikley today and could only catch a glimpse of the departures from Rwy32 this afternoon, which was extremely frustrating, anyway, is anyone able to confirm that the Thomson B757 on today's Corfu service was G-OOBE?
I saw it was a TOMB757WL but couldn't see it clearly enough to make a certain identification. Also the FlightRadar Playback system is playing up and isn't showing the TOM departing and is also missing off a few other flights I wanted to research!
I had to wait to search for all the TOM aircraft and G-OOBE is the only B757WL returning from the general Corfu area this evening.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Regards, Tom.

Hi tom. I can confirm that Thomson Airways yesterday did in fact use Boeing 757-200WL, G-OOBE on the TOM3HE/7BL Corfu service.

I had also confirmed this movement on the http://www.lbaspotters.net website as well.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Todays Omega Holidays inbound charter from Naples (Flight BA4508/CFE86N) is been operated by British Airways, Cityflyer Embrear 170, G-LCYH.

I do belive that this maybe the first visit of this aircraft type into LBA.

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Thanks a lot Lbapsotter, I haven't visited your website for sometime I'm afraid - I will try to get back into the routine of viewing it more often. :D

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

Anybody see the military helicopter flying VERY low over Leeds today? Didn't have time to get the camera out but had the binocs handy. The rear hatch/door was open. It came back a short while later, maybe 15 mins or so. Maybe it went to LBA, picked someone/something up and took off again? Can't think of anywhere else it could have landed considering the time period. Any info anybody?

Re: Movements Log & Heads Up

I saw it circling city centre, I thought it may be going to the infirmary.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
