It would seem Leeds/Bradford airport is opening on Christmas day once again this year. Monarch Airlines are due to operate a the afternoon Lanzarote service whilst KLM are down to operate the morning Amsterdam rotation.

Schedule as follows
ETA 09:35 F/ AMS - KLM1545 = Embraer 190
ETD 10:10 T/ AMS - KLM1546 = Embraer 190
ETD 14:45 T/ ACE - MON7592 = Airbus A320
ETA 00:25 F/ ACE - MON7593 = Airbus A320

I know some people wont be happy with this decision. But as we all know its all about the revenue for LBA management.

But will they get enough income from 4 flights to pay the staff?

I think as the years go on, commercially, Christmas day will become non-descript for international business, and especially aviation.

Manchester, Heathrow and Gatwick this year look to be operating a near as damn normal schedule for Christmas day, just as busy as a normal day barring a few based flights.

This is a discussion we have every year. I can understand airports with intercontinental flights operating on Christmas day because of the times zones and flying times involved, but not airports with flights mostly within just a few hours reach. I guess airports generally have an obligation to open at the request of an airline but I just don't see the need for most of them to operate on Christmas day. To be honest, it must cost more to open for just a couple of flights than to close.

I know not everyone is religious but for most people this goes beyond religion. It is only one day a year when everyone (mostly) can spend time at home usually with family or loved ones. You don't have to be Christian to benefit from this and I know many people from other religions also use the occasion to spend time with family. For me at least, it will be a very sad day if all the shops are open and it becomes just another normal day.

Ryanair Boeing 737-800, EI-EBX was aircraft the last scheduled aircraft due to land this year at Leeds/Bradford operating the RYR394N service from Malaga. Meanwhile Flybe Dash 8-Q400, G-ECOG was the last aircraft to depart in 2014 operating the BEE7GW to Southampton.

Hope you all have a good one tonight, Wishing you all a Happy New year and to an even better 2015 hopefully!

Did anyone catch the registration of the RAF BAe 146 that arrived into LBA and parked on on Multiflight earlier this morning?

Also worth noting that there is a Enter Air Boeing 737-400 due back in tonight from Enontekio.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
