According to good old FR24, G-CELX took off at 03:24 as EXS032E to Edinburgh. This should answer your query LBAYORKIE.

Thanks for that, I live in Otley and it woke my wife and I up. Not good for relationships with the local communities, should really restrict operations at this time of night to landings only.

I'm not bothered personally, but the airport aren't helping themselves from a PR perspective.

LBA is a 24 hour airport so you expect some movements as long as aircraft at not louder than that approved to take-off between 23:00 and 06:00 and that all departures stick to the preferred noise abatement departure routing procedures?

I understand that Jet2 has been positioning its Boeing 737-300QC fleet aircraft about for maintenance purposes. The only time they can do this is when they are free between operating there overnight mail runs and the first wave of scheduled flight departure in the morning during the height of the summer season. Any other time of year Jet2 tend to move these aircraft about through the daytime due to not been needed in scheduled operations as much.

We used to live under the flightpath at the Horsforth end and we could only ever hear the noise through the night if we were already awake.

You get used to the noise but its still there. The airport has to maintain good relations with local communities and given the recent rise in opposition to the link road by environmental groups
I would have thought it would be advisable to voluntarily restrict/stop night take offs. I remember the days of LACAN and tne public enquiry, LBA would do well to remember how important local opinion is.

Its a business !
How long would Jet 2 hang around at Lbia if they could not position aircraft out to the other bases when problems arise, that is why they have spare aircraft here. I live at the side of the runway 200 yds away by choice and would move if the noise was a problem to me. Do not want to spoil your nights sleep but life is a compromise most of the time so its a little noise on departure from Leeds or the passengers in Edinburgh would have had to wait to fly on holiday and maybe the whole days program being ruined if it had not departed when it did.

Just to add to my post a resident living next to the taxi way in Bergamo who had had enough of our night operations put a notice on the side of his house which made me chuckle in the early hours of the morning as we taxied for departure. It said
" F--CK Off DHL.

I agree with a300boy but at the same time I am more than happy for people to vent their feelings on here.

We are all 'pro' LBA on this forum, but we have to understand how the majority of local residents feel. I just don't see the point in winding up local residents by allowing take-offs in the middle of the night, its just storing up trouble. LACAN did a lot of damage to the airports growth prospects and I would rather the airport compromise on odd night take offs than stir up local opposition again.

I am a local resident of Yeadon and the airport comes up as a discussion issue in the pub etc many times. I think the locals in general, ( a lot who are airport workers) support the airport.
Around a month ago I had the green party knocking on my door about new plans for the airport. When I asked all three where they lived not one was from the local area. As usual in a lot of these matters people who disagree in principle bus themselves in to an area and try to influence the result.
You see this clearly with fracking at the moment, where you get a one sided unbalanced view on the subject.
When you challenge the protesters on your door step as I did in 1987 and last month, they have very little knowledge of the subject. Foolishly the green guy tried to tie in global warning to LBA. When I wondered why the ice in the artic had increased 41% over the year and temperature have gone down 0.5% over the last 18 years he had no answer.
I moved to the area in 1987 so feel I should support the airport as I knew was expanding and I was making the decision to move from over 50 miles away, a bit stupid then to start complaining its in my back garden.

Don't know if everyone knows this but tomorrow see's the start of the annual York Ebor Festival which runs until Saturday. I wonder if we will see any freight flights bringing in the Horses (eg TNT Airways BAe 146) or race horse owners/punters flying in their executive business jet aircraft?

Heads up!
There is also another Mistral Air Boeing 737 due into Leeds on Thursday afternoon (20/08/15) operating the last of the season's Italian student charter flights back to Rome Fiumicino

MSA9841 ETA 12:20 / MSA1842 ETD 13:20

Saw horse box turning up at the airport around 07:00 this morning.

Is Church Fenton licensed for large aircraft at the moment? Just thinking that it would be more convenient for York than LBA.

...and they're off.... yes indeed EC-LMR working in as TAY1476 bringing the old gee-gees in from Shannon.

I wrote an item yesterday setting out my views on the night flying, which was definitely there when I moved to the next topic, but it isn't there now! So it has either been removed for some reason or there is a glitch. Suffice to say that if LBA started restricting night time movements to keep the minority happy (and it IS the minority) it would be the start of a downhill slide for LBA as an airport. Airlines will simply not put up with being restricted in such a way if it impacts on their ability to operate and it is a big black mark when it comes to attracting any new business. I don't have the time to write again what I put yesterday, but just wanted to make my point - speaking as someone who actively opposed LACAN and fought to prove (successfully) that those that oppose the airport flying at night are a small minority.

I've just checked the logs and your post was definitely not removed. I always copy my posts before clicking submit just in case the server is having a senior moment.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
