Great to see Flybe, announce there winter 16/17 schedule from BHX. This really shows good commitment from them at BHX and i really think they have learnt from there previous bombshell at the airport not so long ago.

Long may it continue.

Flybe have announced a code share with Virgin Atlantic on BHX-GLA, this is part of a larger strategy which will see them provide connections to Virgin long-haul routes and code share on domestic flights to airports where Virgin operate.

Not even half a foot in the door for Virgin really, but things may well change if the rumoured talks with Delta turn out successfully.

Some good publicity for the new routes (y)

Flybe launches six new routes from Birmingham Airport

Flybe now offers 430 flights a week from the Midlands to 30 destinations, including six new routes to Limoges, Nantes, Rennes, Rotterdam, Luxembourg and Knock

Budget airline Flybe’s summer schedule from Birmingham Airport has launched with the addition of six new routes and increased frequency to existing destinations on its network.

Flybe now offers 430 flights a week from the Midlands to 30 destinations, including six new routes to Limoges, Nantes, Rennes, Rotterdam, Luxembourg and Knock.

Francophiles will be pleased to see the return of several French regional destinations which proved popular with travellers from Birmingham last summer.

They include Brest, Avignon, Bergerac, Bordeaux, Biarritz, La Rochelle and Bastia.

Lyon remains on the schedule having been available for booking year-round.

Elsewhere, Knock in the west of Ireland makes a return to the Birmingham schedule this summer with flights operating six times a week.

Flybe’s new service to Rotterdam will begin in September.

Frequency has also been increased on a number of popular routes from Birmingham, including Dusseldorf, Milan and Hannover among others.

Vincent Hodder, Flybe’s chief revenue officer, said: “Time saving, affordable, punctual travel to a wide choice of attractive destinations is what we will be delivering to our customers this summer.

“Many of the routes we will be operating are specifically scheduled to attract those looking for reasonably-priced, convenient day returns and short breaks, with Birmingham Airport providing a key UK hub for onward travel.”

According to a post on another forum, Flybe's new subsidised route from Norwich to Exeter managed to achieve an average load of 51 (65% LF) in the first week of operations.

One poster remarked that with the economics of the Q400, Flybe can make a profit when loads are as small as 30 passengers if the prices are right. I feel this is relevant to BHX because it shows Flybe could make routes like BHX-Waterford and BHX-Londonderry profitable.

I don't know how the ATR compares to the Q400 in terms of economics but it seems a perfect fit for those two routes mentioned?

Ok, not the most exciting bit of info but it would appear that Flybe look to be wanting to Launch BHX-Toulous again from the 1st September.

Someone had noticed on a recent flight that this is included in the destinations section of their inflight magazine. You can look at the magazine on their website and he is correct: Birmingham – Toulous (Starts 1st Sept 2016)

I tweeted Flybe..... conversation below:

Me: @flybe , your inflight magazine states @bhx_official to #Toulous from 01/09/16. Great news! When will they on sale?! https://t.co/3UVvjqdYza

Flybe: I'm afraid I can't give an exact date as this route is not currently scheduled but if you sign up to our newsletter here: www.flybe.com/subscribe/ you will be notified when it is released :) – Graham

Seems they have not denied it which airlines often do if they have no plans to launch, so I suppose its one of the radar to watch this space for!

Whilst Flybe have operated the route before, now they have a clearer strategy and identify, I cant help but feel they are the airline to make this route work this time. Be great to have it back on the destination list again!

Flybe have now delayed the start of their new Rotterdam and Luxembourg services from early September until 1st October, presumably due to aircraft shortages/late deliveries of more DH4's!
I don't think that bodes well for either service

Me too :)

It shouldn't affect things too badly as pax are being booked to AMS instead with transport to Rotterdam if needed.

Its not ideal, however these things happen i suppose . These new routes are for more buisness passengers rather than tourists so the fact that it will miss out september (I still class as summer) i dont think it will be too much of a distruption. Obviously if you had booked seats on either of these new routes in September, then i can imagine you would be a bit cheezed off.
I really hope these new routes do well, they are a bit different to the norm which sometimes dosent bode well for BHX but i suppose Flybe have turned a corner compared to a few years ago and they are not in the same position as VLM. Again 2 slightly different routes that didnt last long at all.

Flybe’s Selection of Regional French Routes Take Off at Birmingham Airport

Flybe has launched flights to three new French routes from Birmingham Airport, namely Nantes, Rennes-Saint-Jacques and Limoges. The routes form part of the airline’s expanded Summer 2016 flying programme.

flybe-french-routes.jpg

Five flights per week are taking off to the historic port city of Nantes on the Loire River in western France until 29th October 2016. Nantes is ideally situated as a gateway to the beaches of the Atlantic coast and highlights of the Loire Valley, including Muscadet wine, cycling and river tourism.

Rennes, the capital city of Brittany, boasts a 2,000 year history. It is an ideal base from which to discover Brittany, including the Forest of Brocéliande – which legend claims is the home of Merlin, King Arthur and the Lady of the Lake. Flights to Rennes-Saint-Jacques will operate four times a week until 25th September 2016.

Limoges is a town of art and history in west-central France. The Limousin Region is a popular destination for fishing, horse-riding, golf and mountain biking, owing to its beautiful and diverse scenery. Flights to Limoges will operate twice a week until 29th October 2016.

These new summer routes provide an additional boost to Flybe’s existing high frequency schedule from Birmingham Airport.

William Pearson, Aviation Development Director at Birmingham Airport, said: “We are confident that these new French routes will be extremely popular with our business and leisure passengers over the summer months. Regional France was relatively unserved from Birmingham until these flights started and so we think there will be high demand for seats.

“Flybe is a very popular carrier here at Birmingham Airport, serving 30 destinations and offering passengers great service and fantastic value.”

Paul Willoughby, Flybe’s General Manager UK South, said: “Time saving, affordable and punctual travel to a wide choice of attractive destinations is what we will be delivering to our customers this summer. Our French regional routes open up a multitude of holiday destinations which are often overlooked by British travellers, due to their relative inaccessibility. We look forward to welcoming all of our passengers from Birmingham on board this summer.”

Seats are on sale now at www.flybe.com from £32.99 one-way including taxes and charges.

Great news Ray it got great loads when it last operated Flybe have tried this route so many times my guess is their must have been enough revenue generated on their last attempt to try again. Having been to Toulouse many times (I have family who live near Pau) it's a great city with lots of industry and year-round leisure appeal too. The European network ex BHX is looking good at the moment!

It's great to see a daily service rather than just as a ski destination.

Flybe Announces Brand New Route to Toulouse from Birmingham and Celebrates 30 Years of Belfast City Service

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, has today (22nd June 2016) announced a brand new route between Birmingham and Toulouse-Blagnac airports with daily flights starting on 30thOctober, providing the only direct service between the two destinations.

flybe-aircraft.jpg

At the same time, it has marked the 30 year anniversary of its popular Belfast City service that, over the three decades, has covered some 22 million miles – the equivalent distance of travelling almost 50 times to the moon and back, and carried over six million passengers on 100,000 flights.

Vincent Hodder, Flybe’s Chief Revenue Officer, comments: “Today marks a very special milestone in Flybe’s long established commitment to both Birmingham and Belfast City airports – and at the same time we are announcing yet another new route to regional France. Our clear focus is on providing short, affordable regional flights, delivering unrivalled regional connectivity for local communities.

Paul Kehoe, CEO of Birmingham Airport, commenting on the Belfast City anniversary said: “Happy anniversary to Flybe, our largest carrier here at Birmingham Airport. To operate a reliable and consistent service between Belfast City and Birmingham for the past 30 years is impressive, proving the high demand for this service for both leisure and business travellers.

"The airport is proud to have Flybe as a major partner and we look forward to continuing to work together to make its other 31 routes from Birmingham have similar longevity, including of course the Toulouse flights announced just today.”

The city of Toulouse - just a short 1 hour 50 minute flight away – is a quintessential example of how modern France marries both the old and the new. It is one of France’s most historic cities featuring medieval architecture and unique pink terracotta buildings. It is also the centre of the European aerospace industry and of leading companies within the technology sector.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
