Why do you think it is odd mate ??

I think for a new destination a daily rotation is quite good.

i think flybe may need to adjust their website, as apparently the LUX-BHX flight takes over 11 hours, but, non stop lol.

After Monarch announced Lisbon I half expected Ryanair to follow, I'm glad that they didn't.

Hopefully we'll be hearing about the Flybe winter programme soon. It'd be nice for Newquay to go year round and we'll see if Bordeaux carries on, it did for many years but was dropped last winter.

I think for a new destination a daily rotation is quite good.

Ordinarily I would agree but consider them launching at 12 weekly for MAN. Luxair only used the EMB120 and ERJ145s on a less than daily basis when they were on the MAN-LUX route. The BHX frequency looks better/easier to fill but if it's meant to be useful for local businesses, you'd think it would also be 12 weekly.

indeed, 12x weekly is better for business but 7x weekly is still useful, both for business and tourists, especially when you think the only other alternative from that was transiting somewhere!!!

The seat map suggests this is a Q400. I hope it can work!!!

I support the question regardinf other routes in the past not working from BHX, I suspect that is down to fees, costs and fleets. Remember, many of the ex flybe routes that failed from BHX where expensive E195s at an expensive airport. The airport has got its costs into check it would appear, and now Flybe have an economical and efficient fleet that support their regional business model.

Yes I do remember Flybe having operational issues when they used to fly there E175s into Florence. I do believe that due to certain weather conditions, the runway was a bit short and often caused some delays. As for Oslo and Porto, that is a different question.

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum, but I have been following things for a while so I feel I know you all already. I live down south, with the LHR flights passing overhead daily, so not a lot I can say about movements etc. But I grew up near the airport and used to visit one heck of a lot when BHX used to entertain the Viscounts, 1-11s and the odd Britannia. Yes I am that old.

Anyway great to see the Luxembourg connection. It has always bemused.me why the focus on this route has been on London only. It is an important and growing business centre. And that is what is impressing me about the role that BHX is playing in improving Birmingham's business connections. It would be interesting to see where BHX comes in the UK airport league when you only consider international business travel. I reckon we would.pass Edi easily - we are a busier international airport anyway, Luton is still a holiday airport, stansted seems to be.more leisure than business so there is a chance that we may have better connectivity and use. As for Manchester we would be behind, but not as much.as the core stats would suggest.

What is vital to.the city, region and airport is fostering the business connectivity first from which we can launch an ever expanding leisure market.

Very exciting times.

If you watch the interview with Mr Kehoe on the link below at 04:30 he talks about business traffic. He says that London City in number one, London Heathrow is number two and Birmingham number three.

That is most likely the percentage of pax based on the airport total, so other airport will see more physical business travellers.

What was interesting was after that he admitted that BHX hasn't been great at the low cost offering, great to see how it's changed since then :smile:

Jersey double daily.

Rotterdam and Luxembourg stay as is.

Knock 4x weekly.

Nantes stays year round at 3x weekly through winter.

EDI and GLA both 7x daily.

great news, how many daily flights were there in w15/16....? As the E195s were moved out of BHX this season, I can only assume the aircraft mix for 15/16 would be comparable to 16/17 and as such the increase number of flights relate directly to an increase in capacity???
