Is free movement a prerequisite now?
The EU is demanding that in the transitional period between March 2019 (when the UK is due to leave the EU) and December 2020 the status quo must remain, including free movement, adherence to all EU laws and to any new ones that might be enacted before and during the transitional period even though the UK would have had no say in them.

Depending who you read or listen to the UK will oppose all or some of this.

Here's the press release about flights to Shannon.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) will see the return of flights to Shannon in Ireland following the news that Ryanair are to commence flights for Summer 2018.
Flights last operated to Shannon from Liverpool in 2014 and will recommence from 19th May onwards, operating 3 times weekly on Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays until the end of October with prices starting at just £19.99 one way.
Paul Winfield, Director of Aviation Development for LJLA commented, “We are delighted to see the return of Shannon to the Liverpool network for summer 2018. This new service will allow passengers from across the North West market to enjoy a Faster, Easier, Friendlier experience when travelling to and from Shannon.”
Ryanair’s Robin Kiely added, “Ryanair is pleased to launch a new Liverpool to Shannon route, which will operate three times weekly from May to October, as part of our Summer 2018 schedule, which is on sale now on the Ryanair.com website.”

Portuguese cabin crew on strike, doesn't seem to have affected LPL departures so far. Saw a LBA FRA and another destination which I can't remember cancelled last night at FAO.

Lucky passengers on FR447 LPL-DUB yesterday were treated to a complimentary free drink courtesy of Mr O Leary who was on board. Mr O Leary 's horse won the Grand National so was in a celebratory mood. The fight was delayed 30 mins as they were waiting for the Winning Jockey Davey Russell .Mr O Leary apologised for the delay. A nice gesture from a man who often gets a lot of flack .

I once saw MOL at LBA when he was announcing new routes. The man's bonkers. I imagine he's the sort of bloke who still goes down to his local for a pint and play darts and cards.

In an odd sort of way I quite like him. Love him or hate him he's done a first-class job for Ryanair's shareholders down the years and knows the way to getting publicity for his airline.

And I think their product has generally improved. I fly on them quite often and touch wood I've never been delayed.

I've never flown with Ryanair but they do seem to be good at what they do and they provide a product that people seem to like.

I too have warmed to MoL.If you listen to some of his speeches he certainly can laugh at himself, but he`s an accountant by trade and that`s why he`s successful. At least with Ryanair you always get what you`ve paid for (speedy boarding etc) and on time flights..unlike the late Monarch who charged you for speedy boarding at overseas airports then never provided it and their on time performance was woeful in my personal experience. Thats why Ryanair are still going and others are not.

I also like the new interior they have, the aircraft has a wider feel and mood lighting is pleasant.

Ryanair are advising passengers to check in 3 hours prior rather than the usual two on Friday and Saturday due to large amount of extra passengers transiting the terminal travelling to Kiev.

Shannon is a funny one. Ryanair served Shannon from LBA, they seemed to be doing well with reasonable loads but Ryanair scrapped the route. All I can think is they must have had to sell the seats too cheaply to make it work.

I'm wondering what the market is for SNN, I've never been to Limerick and don't know much about it . Whilst DUB and ORK are weekend break destination plus VFR and Business traffic. I don't know if you would go to Limerick for break ?

So I'm guessing it more a route for VFR The timing were not conducive for that for a weekend trick to see folks or friends .

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
