It will be interesting to see if they reinstate the GLA-LBA route and essentially everything gets set back to how it was before with everyone just with less money in their bank accounts and red faces!

Lets hope none of them are permanently financially damaged by it and they can concentrate on making their businesses a success and not trying to destroy each other. I also hope this will maybe focus Eastern on the North East and Yorkshire with them looking to deploy bigger aircraft on a lot of their established routes and building the successful ones up.

Anyone who thought Leeds - Norwich route might work, just go look at whats happened with Loganair on the Teeside - Norwich route.
The service has operated 6x weekly Saab 340, but according to the CAA stats for November 2017 it avaraged just 5 passengers per flight.
Seems like they have now seen sense and will drop that link as of January 5th 2018.

There are of course the usual factors to consider here:
Once daily MME to NWI is not going to appeal to the business community, a la our own LBA - LHR service.
What actual potential traffic is there between the two points.
What size of aircraft is being used as opposed to what may be better suited, if that airline does indeed have a better size which LM don't.
Are connections possible, which there are at MAN.

So maybe LM do need to return to LBA to do what they were previously apparently considering and that being twice daily GLA - LBA - NWI and vice versa, similar to my previous suggestion along the lines of ABZ - GLA - LBA. NWI clearly has routes that do work and it isn't the easiest place to get to overland. So this can't be any worse a route to try than some of the other random ones that we all suggested were weird to say the least and have since proven so. A real opportunity for LM to strike an improved deal with LBA me thinks and LBA would be stupid not to consider it

Is Manchester to Norwich any better lbaspotter? I can’t imagine any route to and from Norwich is going to make much money.

I've flown on MAN-NWI over the years, firstly on Eastern, then Flybe and I will use Loganair next month. It saves a long road or rail trick so I'm glad of the link, but I've never been on a full aircraft. Normally about 50 per cent full, 75 per cent at best.

Well I can honestly say there have been occasions, albeit very last minute when we couldn't book one of our clients on the MAN - NWI route because it was full

I suppose there must be some occasions, I go there on business a few times a year and have done for I suppose 10 years, but I've not experienced a full plane.

Is that the No 1 fan who doesn't fly here any more? If so, say hello to him from me. I used to talk to JH often when he was still at school up at the airport. Tell him all is forgiven and to get his airline back down here pronto! :)

Likewise. Woodhouse Grove if I remember correctly?

I used to look forward to reading the sumary he placed in the anual sumner timetables. Those were the days.

Yep, a very good small publication, and it was a pity he had to stop doing it. He also returned any overpaid subscription when he stopped it.

He always wanted to join the Airport Support Group. I was happy to have him. My (then) colleagues said no, so I was outvoted. They were somewhat worried about the fact that JH, even at his young age, was quite happy to tell airport management what he thought, whether popular or not. I thought that a good thing. My colleagues disagreed, and the rest is history.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
