Booked Eastern to Aberdeen for March! 3 hours on the J41 with a stop at Newcastle. Should be interesting!

I suppose wonder what a rail fare would have been in comparison when we say eye watering fares.

if you can get an air fare lower than rail fare when you get a significant time saving you should always be thankful.
£230 one way and a 9 hour journey for rail.
If i remember correctly the route used to be a lot more expensive pretty sure double the price I paid and as comparison for Edinburgh on that day Flybe want £87, £110 and £61 in order of departure times.

Just had an email from Flybe about my flight from Cardiff to Aberdeen and they have said that from the 10th February Eastern Airways will suspend their Cardiff to Newcastle flights, for passengers flying to Newcastle it looks like they will be offered alternative flights to Teeside and onward transport to Newcastle, for passengers like me who are flying to Aberdeen it just means the fuel stop will be at Teeside instead of Newcastle.

they’re moving the newcastle flight to teeside, really!?

Yep that's what the email said. The fuel stop will be in Teeside and not Newcastle. I suspect that they've either been offered an incentive from Teesside airport or it's due to aircraft availability or might be both.
The P2P traffic between CWL and MME won't be as big as that between CWL-NCL, surely.

Very odd Eastern decision switching its CWL route to MME from NCL. I'd love to know the rationale too. I wonder what the CWL management makes of it all. I can't think they will rejoicing unless they have something already lined up for NCL.

I can't remember if CWL has previously had a MME route.

It's not if you can jump on a train to Newcastle as i think the local station only has 1 train a week. The only reasons i can think of is the ones i stated before.
I'd imagine that the CWL management will be disappointed and happy at the same time. A new domestic connection would be welcome but not at the expense of a route like NCL. Just checked the Flybe website and they have taken the route off sale except on sundays but Teesside isn't onsale.

They are probably using the aircraft to operate an extra rotation from MME to ABZ, so CWL - MME is not being offered for sale.

Is an odd move, although MME seems to be resurgent .

It is a strange one as the technical stop is now showing up as MME on the Flybe booking engine as Jerry said, yet the option to book from CWL to MME isn't there. BE7632 (Mon 10th Feb) is bookable CWL-ABZ and MME-ABZ but not CWL-MME which is a bit weird! I assume it'll be on in due course as it's a new airport link.
It may just be as simple as landing fees at NCL not making it worthwhile for such a small aircraft on an underused link.

I think there may be something to do with LM at NCL as haven't they just announced extra NCL ABZ flights? May not be room for both carriers on the route. And yes I am sure MME are doing all they can to attract more

This is beyond speculation, just late night conspiracy theory. As a franchise partner to BE it may be possible that Eastern have some insight to discussions between the UK gov and BE?
Would this move before the march budget be foreshadowing a possible relaxation of APD on domestic flights between airports below X-pax pa?

Cwl to Teeside now available on Flybe website, test booking for 19-2-20, £218 one way, there will not be many passengers at that price. I wonder if Newcastle will return, if Flybe wants to show the Government it connects the Uk, then a Newquay-CWL-NCL service would be good news for the airport.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
