This thread is to showcase news about BHX. Let's keep this thread active so people will use this thread to find out about upcoming services, constructions etc. Here's what we have got so far:

NOTE: None of these rumours/news were started by myself

- Air Transat to re-commence twice weekly YYZ-BHX on an A332 starting April. Timings are as follows:

TS 164 Dep YYZ 19:50 Arr BHX 07:35
TS 165 Dep BHX 09:20 Arr YYZ 12:00

- BMI are to base an A320 at BHX to operate for Lufthansa on BHX-FRA.
- TK to upgrade to an A320 from a B738, and to daily from 5 weekly by the end of the year.
- Air India to commence DEL-BHX, three weekly on an A332 starting October.
- Armavia to start EVN-ATQ in April (the first two flights never showed up).

If anyone has heard anything else that no one currently knows, please tell us, and also, if it's possible to go down the airport and find out for yourself about new services that are being considered this year, please do so, and we would like to know in full detail. It would be good if the airport is considering international services, as well as European services which are well needed.

Re: Birmingham Airport News 2011

Good idea Hassaan13 is it just going to be a brief summary of airline news in here with the full storey going into the airlines respective thread? If you like I can make this a sticky thread for you. If you make any updates I'll delete the top post so the new version on on top if that helps?

Re: Birmingham Airport News 2011

I think it will be a full story in the airlines' respective thread if it has been confirmed and that it would be a successful route. Yes, you could make this thread a sticky, maybe more people will notice it. Also, I think you could do that, if I make any updates then put that at the top.

Re: Birmingham Airport News 2011

''TK to upgrade to an A320 from a B738''

Im sorry to be my pessimestic self, but its not an upgrade, its a downgrade. The B738 holds 155 whilst the A320 only holds 143 (in the TK fleet). Not a huge difference, but less seats all the same.

OK, clearing this up:

- Armavia, once again, no more flights have showed up, I'm guessing they haven't acquired rights to fly into BHX, but then again, I'm not holding my breath after only one flight into BHX.

- Air Transat have begun their weekly seasonal service to Toronto. The first three flights will be operated by an Airbus A310, and the rest will be operated by an Airbus A330-200 until the end of the season. It'll be interesting to discover the load figures for this service, considering it is only weekly!

- Air India's rumor that they are starting DEL-BHX on an A332 in October is completely untrue. All the equipment has been moved out of Air India's office in Birmingham and sent to Heathrow.

- TK and BMI's changes have been done.

- The runway extension was finally approved yesterday and will begin construction soon. This was featured on the news yesterday.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
