I think you will find the flight from last Thursday had horses on board which need a Border Inspection Point (BIP) which we do not have a BHX. This justifies the stop at STN prior to coming up to BHX.

How long these flights will be coming into BHX for I do not know. I am just grateful to see them coming in at all bearing in mind that they could have gone anywhere else (MAN / LGW / STN etc). Lets just be happy that Emirates have decided to position these flights here.

Will the SkyCargo 77F end up at BHX today? Haven't seen it on schedules or anything but I know it doesn't come up until airborne

The ROM CARGO 744 YR-FSA f/n fj3315 is due in again tonight from Sharjah at:19:26 orignating from Hong Kong as previous. It shows as a nightstopper so presumably returns directly back to Hong Kong tomorrow when crew flying hours allow.

I was tracking this on FR24 yesterday.
It left Sharjah for Hong Kong and was almost at HK when i last checked.
I had a feeling it was heading back towards BHX.
Thanks Rollo.

What is causing this cargo spike? Could the airport invest in better cargo facilities as a result?

It has never been much of a cargo centre, with EMA so close, what was the point, but in addition to the big long hauls, I have noticed a spike in EU operations.

All good stuff.

The current uplift in long haul freight traffic from China must be to do with the Middle East situation with much shipping going the long route round. The more urgent and less price sensitive stuff must be whats being flown in to BHX but we are not alone in that

BHX has long had some form of freight service but currently seems to have some very proactive freight handlers and a cooperative airport management.

Enjoy it while it lasts

Most of the recent cargo flights are from LHR due to a change in slot allocations, see below from the LHR IO group,
Cargo news
Only airlines with historical cargo slots are currently operating into LHR this summer.
CX, DHL, KE & SQ being the airlines in point.
All other operators (inc EK, QR, TK) have to apply on a monthly basis for slots.
Regards,Simon.

Yet more cargo flights in today.

Maersk 767 OY-SYD due 18:25 t/f Billund

MNG A332 TC-MYB due 18:15 t/f Istanbul. Thats three 767's and the A332 over on the Elmdon site today.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
