Call for 24 hour rail to Birmingham International
Ian Jenkins of Campaign for Rail said it was important that rail services to Birmingham International were improved. “With Stansted pushing for a 24 hour rail service it is important Birmingham is not left behind. Meanwhile the various projects coming to completion around the Airport and NEC site mean it is vital to have good rail links. The NEC and Resorts World have a unique competitive advantage, being connected to a major regional airport and the national rail network.”
Campaign for Rail has discussed its proposals with Birmingham Airport, the regional transport authority Centro, Virgin Trains, London Midland and Network Rail.
Mr Jenkins added that “While there will obviously some issues that need to be considered, such as resourcing and the need to conduct maintenance works on the railway, but we hope that our suggestion can be given serious consideration.”

During my 'clubbing' days all of Birmingham's main arterial routes had 24 hour services. They were godsend if you happened to spend your taxi fare on an extra pint or two![]()
I agree with Brummiegem about the 900. On the odd occasion I've driven along the Meadway in the early hours the 97 has always had people on it.
Birmingham seeks £3.3bn boost to exploit HS2 rail link
Andy Street, the Birmingham-born managing director of the retailer John Lewis, who chairs the LEP, said HS2 represented a “once-in-a-generation opportunity to drive economic growth and prosperity across the Midlands”.
Even critics of the high-speed rail project suggest that Birmingham’s bid to invest in supporting infrastructure now – rather than wait until HS2 is built – is the right approach.
“As the location for the first high-speed rail interchange, UK Central will reap tremendous benefits from HS2, through the creation of a vibrant new live, work, innovate and play destination – ‘The Hub’ – which interweaves business, leisure and new communities around UK Central’s outstanding transport connectivity.”

Sadly it's not due to open for at least a decade.
