I have visited New York and Washington DC, both very different cities. I even stood right at the top of the World Trade Centre, that feels really weird now and ive still got some old photos

Yes I know what you mean about the Worlds Trade Centre we were there in 2000 also visited Ground Zero a few years later so pionient, never been to Washington too many politicians.

When I arrived this morning to photograph the National 757 arriving from EWR I thought the airport had been closed. Don't think I have ever seen no planes at all parked on any of those stands. Very spooky.

Busiest Sunday of the year so far - 330 flights

40 based aircraft all gone out by 11:15am
Yes I was aware of this, it just had a very eerie feel to it looking over from the Elmdon car park with the thunder in the air too and an odd heat haze. I'm sure it looked totally different this evening with aircraft returning.

Wouldn't a good sign for BHX be that there was not an empty period like this because of higher slots being taken at these 'slack' times? Surely that's the only way to increase passenger numbers via increased frequency / more destinations, apart from the fact that numbers can be increased by increased aircraft size without additional movements?

It could be ideal for an airline such as, I don't know, Norwegian, or even Vueling, to start some off peak flights from aircraft based at popular sun destinations utilising the quieter periods. Who knows, if they are a success we may even see a base from one of them in the future :bag:

Sounds good Ray. Hopefully the airport will discourage route duplication until the route is established enough
to sustain it. Would hate to get into a situation where routes go from under capacity to over capacity to no capacity in a couple of years. No doubt the airport management are at the top of their game and will not allow such a scenario to unfold.Bring on them bases!

You mean it wouldn't be ideal having seven airlines all scrapping it out on Malaga, Tenerife, Palma etc, or four airlines all competing on Madrid, instead of working to establish routes to the seemingly endless holes in the BHX network, or even, dare I say it, ensuring that new routes last more than a season? Lets hope that we never find ourselves in that situation.

I enjoyed my first time on the roof of the NCP car park today and got some good practice from my new camera. I took a load of photos and videos and will upload some of them later/tomorrow. They wont be as high quality as Elmdon74  but i am pleased with my first trip and the NCP is awesome. I also did a Jerry and im sunburnt, its a proper sun trap up there especially on a sunny day. ;)

I deleted some photos becouse of the heat haze but im sure something can be done about that or maybe not ??

And also i really got into video recording some aircraft but i want to know how do i have continuous recording from one aircraft to another without having to upload individual videos. Im sure Jerry can help me out with this one as your Barcelona video is the sort of thing im talking about. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Guys (y)

Cracking pictures as always Simon (y)

Glad you enjoyed your trip to Elmdon, the view will be even better soon when Hangar 2 comes down :)

It may be worth downloading GIMP (don't be put off by the name) which is pretty decent free editing software. It can be quite complicated to do some stuff but the basics such as sharpening, colour enhancement etc are straightforward. If you get stuck on anything then Youtube has plenty of very handy tutorials.

Can't help with the video but I'd be interested to know myself for the future.

Looking forward to the pictures.

I use Windows Movie Maker. It's a free download and is generally one of the more simpler ones that i found which suits me at the moment as i'm still only an amateur on this stuff. I also use it for the trip reports that i've done. It definitely is better than doing everything individually.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
