Gatwick currently closed due to a drone flying close to the airfield. So far we’ve had a Thomas Cook A321 divert in from Enfidha and a Ukraine International 737 from Kiev.

Absolutely mad. The person responsible needs locking up.
With more than one drone reported, I suspect that more than one individual is involved.
The group involved therefore are either extremely stupid, or this is a new tactic being used by protestors who have previously cut perimeter fencing and invaded airfieds.
In the latter case, they are shooting themselves in the foot, as it will result in aircraft being out of place and crews out of hours. This means extra fuel burn for diversions, positioning flights to get aircraft in place for later schedules and fresh crews having to be driven/flown to take over from the crews that are out of hours (who will also require transport back to their base).
I totally agree with your comment about locking them up, but would also like to add the term 'and throw away the key'.

Regards

Kevin

Time for a complete ban on these things without a licence and transponder.

I chased one away from over out garden a few weeks ago. Followed it but by the time I got to where the flyer may have been they were gone. I thought about buying a catapult in case it happens again. It is no different to a peeping Tom or worse, not that in would catapult a person.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
