Learjet M-ABJA has been in the hold for STN at 11,000ft for at least an hour. It's now left the hold and is heading NW, remaining at 11,000ft so could be heading to BHX.

Looking at the METAR posts for BHX on FR24, BHX appears to have been CAVOK (Ceiling And Visibility OK) since 5:50am. Temperatures however have been around freezing to 3 Deg, so could it be extra time required for de-icing?

I can only add that a light covering of snow fell around 4.30am. It had certainly long cleared at 6am, when the temperature was + 1c and cloudless skies. Departures were heard after 6am, so a mystery to me.

Looks like BHX about to get the Tahiti B787 that diverted into Manchester earlier but now diverting again on its way back to CDG?

It didn't come to BHX. For some reason, after departing MAN it headed East (the flight was originally CDG - LAX, F-OVAA) and held over Cromer before heading southwest). It's currently holding just north of Dieppe at 9000ft, so I assume it's burning off or dumping fuel.

Any idea why? Current METAR is showing visibility as 10Km or greater, although I see that other aircraft have had long holds. Possible runway obstruction/closure?

I looked at the weather at EMA at the time and it was giving an RVR of 150m. If you want a great weather website, I highly recommend Windy.com -

Click on the aeroplane icon at the bottom right and it will show airport locations as circles. Click on these, and you will get the METAR data and better information than FR24 gives.

Today's Turkish Airlines flight (TK1967, an A321) is cancelled. I assume this is due to weather in Istanbul, as I have seen reports of heavy snow, with one YouTube video showing part of the terminal roof collapsed due to the weight of snow.

Yes, snow has caused major problems in Turkey and Greece. Yesterday's outbound Turkish A321 was cancelled and is still on the ground at BHX.

According to FR24, the FlightService A330 9H-JFS hasn't departed BHX for CWL, although it had an ETD of 13:00 (the puzzling thing is that it's then ETA at CWL was 15:00 - 2 hours to fly from BHX - CWL?). Possibly crew out of hours?
