still massive delays on the sun routes. None ot the 3 TUI 757s have departed so passengers on the Rhodes, Fueteventura and Kos flights due out Saturday afternoon, must be delayed till Sunday morning, along with 3 Jet2 flights to Zakynthos, Las Palmas and Larnaca. Flybe have a Paris and Salzburg flight delayed until Sunday too, and finally the passengers on the TCX Izmir flight, have been bussed up to Manchester, and will fly out Sunday afternoon almost a day late.

Expect more delays on the Jet2 and TUI Sunday flights too! - going to take a while to clear the backlog.

flugsnug caught the Norwegian landing.

I notice there are no spoilers deployed on the left hand side, no doubt due to the hydraulic issues.

It looks like a great response from the BHX emergency services.

Even on approach, it is evident that there is significant damage to the inboard port main landing gear tyre. As you say, no port spoilers deploy and only two of the starboard ones. Whilst the flaps are operated by screw jacks, I believe that ailerons, elevators, rudder and spoilers are hydraulically activated.
This could have caused control problems and probably required getting the aircraft on the ground ASAP! I did wonder if that resulted in an overweight landing and thus the tyre burst, but the video definitely shows tyre damage prior to landing. The aircrat also appears to 'crab' for most of it's landing run. This could of course be due to crosswinds or possibly to uneven braking from hydraulic problems.
As to whether the tyre damage was caused by, or the cause of the hydraulic problems, we will have to wait for the outcome of the investigation.
I too thank the BHX staff for their handling of the situation and also the flight crew of the aircraft.
More than anything, I'm happy that all aboard were able to walk away.

Am i correct in saying Norwegian dont operate from BHX at all anymore?

You are correct, GliderPilot.
As stated the Norwegian 737-800 that diverted in was operating KEF to MAD.
Meanwhile, Monarch Engineering have a contract to maintain their B787-800/900 fleet. This is the reason that LN-LNK was inbound from CPH.

Hope that helps.

Regards.

Kevin

Given that the aircraft was unable to deploy fully the spoilers and possible brake issues I presume the fact BHX has a full length runway that would have been a significant factor in the choice of airport.

A safe outcome all round thank goodness.

But, who pays for all the delays and disruption?

It should be Norweigan in my book. But im sure it will cost BHX something. It has already given BHX more bad publicity if it didnt need any more right now.

Oh the joys of being an airport.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
