Use this prefix for new threads for Birmingham Airport
I likewise have been following a growing area of heavy rain tracking slowly North East from Hereford area and now close to Worcester. Courtesy of Weatherbug app, and it's thunderstorm section, which i find very accurate!!.

SN2177 OO-SNI diverted in this afternoon. The MAN weather at the time being 230 degrees at 2 knots with visibility 9000 metres with an RVR of 900m,

Weather is continuing in the same vein with absolute visibility ok but the RVRs being under 1000m

I guessing it was over weight for landing hence the many circuits.
Has it come here because of STS maintenance base or possibly there’s a spare parked up ?

Birmingham's runway would cope easily with it, being one of the longest in the UK.
I'm not sure what you are referring to there. If it's the overweight landing, the runway length isn't the issue. The problem is the stress on the undercarriage and associated structures, with the possibility of an undercarriage collapse or damage to the supporting structure. In the event of an overweight landing, the aircraft has to be thoroughly checked before it can fly again.
In order to get below the maximum landing weight, the aircraft carries out circuits at low altitude where the air is denser and therefore the fuel burn higher. In a more urgent situation fuel dumping over the sea is a possibility (not all aircraft can dump fuel). In a dire emergency, fuel can be dumped over land, or risk an overweight landing.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
