Sometimes the distance from the terminal to the active take off runway can be 30-40 mins and vice versa on landing. I've most certainly been on many flights into and out of Istanbul where the taxi time has taken this long. Maybe that's one of the reasons.
The Polderbaarn at Amsterdam is a 20 minute Taxi I'd imagine an hour if busier. When I've flew from LHR it felt like for 10-15 minutes we were queuing to take off and at New York when our aircraft turned I could see at least 20-30 aircraft in front of us plus 1 on Take Off roll

Funny thing is.It wasn’t even ready to taxi .Infact there’s 5 runways at Istanbul.
The plane was sitting at gate at IST for over an hour.I do agree with you about taxiing but surely they must use the spare runways especially midday.
I do think that Turkish are the worst for delays

Can I ask you lot a question. Is Istanbul Airport the worst airport for delays of aircraft.Just noticed Turkish Airlines are well over an hour delayed taking off
Possibly weather related?.
Greece and western Turkey are being battered by storms since Monday evening.

İstanbul had a yellow weather warning this morning. Not as bad as orange or red warning, but some wind and heavy rain. Although Arnavutköy where the airport is is prone to strong winds any day of the year

I must say Dallas in my personal experience is the worst by a country mile. I must’ve missed about a million connections there

Last time, AA delayed my return to LHR by 14 hours, and then cancelled the flight with no specified reason !

TUI 737H G-GOWG diverted in this morning at 08:17am from Aberdeen on its way to to Dalaman.

Also just realised the RAF Voyager returned the athletes yesterday from the Invictus games and a Ryanair 737Max from Bristol diverted in as a weather diversion.

For my own personal interest, is it classed as a diversion if a plane is rerouted via another airport to pick up extra passengers ongoing to the same destination the plane was originally going to?

I think C-GOWG departed Abz-Dalaman via Bhx to pick up passengers from here for the scheduled TOM814 flight from Birmingham

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
